We called in at the Hideaway for lunch before getting on the M6 to head to our holiday destination in Northumberland. And we couldn't have timed it better. As we arrived there were just three couples dining in the spacious eaterie and we found a table by the window. We ordered sandwiches, a toasted teacake and three drinks and took... More

What a find this was, I am so surprised there is not a local tourist sign for everybody to experience this wonderfully located coffee house, scenery is spectacular, atmosphere relaxing, cleanliness 5 star, food is second to none, staff attentive, pleasant and not in your face, they give you space to enjoy and experience what they get to do every... We stopped for a late lunch here en-route to Caldbeck for the start of our weeks holiday. What a find this was - lovely position, very friendly people and excellent food. Highly recommend

Visited here today with a friend. Not the cheapest of coffee houses but paid for a service from1 member of staff who was totally rude & unhelpful. Will not be visiting again.

I found this cafe to lack a cosy atmosphere. It is echoey and noisy and would benefit from some wall pictures or something to add interest to the room. My main meal tasted OK but portion size was a bit small. The cakes and desserts on offer are uninspiring. The staff were friendly.

I have been visiting the Hideaway now ever since they opened, I love the venue, location, and the absolutely fabulous food, I have eaten breakfast, lunch, snacks at various times of the day, and the food is always beautifully presented, delicious, made with the freshest local ingredients, each mouthful is a treat. I love the staff in this small family... More

We called in for a snack and drinks. No greeting or acknowledgement that we were there even though we were the only customers. We were told beans on toast was not possible despite it being on the menu albeit as a children's option. We are vegetarian and often there are few alternatives. How hard is that to cater for? Unhelpful... More

Read the reviews and called in recently but alas, despite the food being nice, the surly waitress popped up again and spoiled our visit. Chickened out of complaining about her to herself though!

The actions of staff are usually defined by the characteristics of the customers. Not knowing who you are or which member of staff you are talking about makes it virtually impossible for us to address your complaint. More

Lovely clean venue with friendly staff and proper coffee. I often call in when passing - the views from the back are stunning and it's handy for a quick stretch of the legs along the pretty canal if you're mid-commute. It's a smart place with well-presented, well cooked food and a much better and far classier option than a motorway... More
