Had a great burger topped with smoked brisket and an amazing desert of chocolate ganache. Staff were very friendly and attentive but not overpowering. Loved the decor. Last time I was in this pub it was the Clayton Arms and the transformation is amazing. Love...More

Tried this by chance having spotted it whilst driving by a few weeks ago. Lovely open fire, decor excellent, in fact the whole place was immaculate. Enjoyed a well kept pint of ale, ( at a sensible price) The dinner was prepared with no delays,...More

What a fantastic place to have lunch. At last a place that caters for vegetarians. Two great vegetarian options - not mushroom risotto - hurrah. Very unusual to have two options. The service was excellent and the ambience superb. Will definitely go back.

I found the food good but unremarkable however staff were knowledgeable and attentive. It’s a popular local place to dine. I understand the owner of the grouse and ale has recently opened the Yew Tree in Frieth nearby where the food was delicious.

Went to celebrate with family. The service was excellent and food tasted excellent however 2 adults opted for the Mushroom and Brie Wellington as a veg choice which turned up as a smaller portion than a child's Roast. Although it tasted amazing it would have...More

We came here almost by accident, and are VERY glad we did! It’s lovely - warm and welcoming, good beers, a great wine list and a menu that stumped us. We literally wanted everything! A real treat pub if you’re looking for a cosy afternoon...More

This pub was recommended by Debbie the owner of the nearby Dovecot Studio B&B and she was bang on. Good Beer and even greater Gourmet Burger!

I am so sorry, Sunday evening is the only service of the week that we close the kitchen, even chefs need a bit of family time! We hope to see you at another time, very best regards Carlos and the Team.

Description
With the relaxed ambiance of an English country pub, an elegant menu made from local produce and plenty of room to breathe (and park) the Grouse & Ale is the perfect venue for a social occasion or an informal meeting/function that needs more than just biscuits and coffee. The entire bar and restaurant is WIFI and there are plenty of niches to relax in with open fires to banish any winter chills, come the summer, take your drinks outside into our secluded courtyard. We hope that you will feel able to relax in comfortable surroundings, secure in the knowledge that the service, drinks and food will be perfect – whatever the occasion; Sunday lunch, a romantic dinner or a business session.Gastro Pub of the Year - 2010Quite simply, we’re very proud of our food. Our approach to designing the menu, reflects our ethos – do the simplest things brilliantly well. Our daily specials reflect a table d’hôte offering to supplement the a la carte menu along with an extensive, informal menu at the bar. Wherever possible, our menus are created from locally sourced produce and meats.
