We had a lovely meal on Easter Saturday here, only booking in the morning. It's quite a fancy menu and difficult to choose something healthy or reasonably priced. The food we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented - I'm not sure what was the purpose of adding popcorn to my duck dish, however? As a treat or for a special... More

Booked in advance (probably advised) for Saturday lunchtime. Car park is not large and is inclined, so be warned if access is a problem. Food and service is excellent though. Ham hock terrine, dates in bacon, and whitebait all enjoyed as starters. Pan fried salmon and fillet steaks excellent mains. Not the cheapest meal, but an excellent all round experience.

Excellent ambience in a beautiful riverside setting deep in The Fens. High quality local food. A La Carte quite expensive but an excellent 2 course lunch makes this more than just a birthday visit.

This little pub right next to the river is worth seeking out. The menu offered some really interesting choices for meat, fish and vegetarian options. It was a mix of the traditional (local butcher sausages and mash) and more inventive (pea puree with crispy egg and samphire - very yummy). The food was presented beautifully and the service was very... More

On a whim we booked a table and drove out to The Anchor Inn, never having been there before and fancying somewhere new. What a great decision! We had a gorgeous lunch at a very reasonable price. The dates wrapped in bacon were very good as was my wife's smoked mackerel pate in smoked salmon parcels. My pork belly main... More

We enjoyed a meal here whilst staying at B and B next door. It was busy and the service was a little haphazard e.g. We had to remind them we had ordered desserts and coffee, another couple were given the wrong dessert menu and bill as they were using a Travel Zoo voucher. However the food was very good and... More

Great base for visiting Ely and Cambridge, and with scenic riverside location. Unashamedly old inn with exposed beams so old I wondered about their structural integrity - definitely no fibre-glass! Our room was a small double, which had all the facilities needed for for a three night stay. The bar seemed well stocked, with a choice of two cask ales... More

My friend and I had been for a walk along the river bank on a cold, windy morning - we went into The Anchor Inn just before 12 noon with the intention of just ordering a hot drink! We then looked at the menu and decided we would have lunch there and asked if there was a table for two... More

We visited Grove Barn nearby and needed a light supper. The Anchor was handy and proved to be a lovely place to eat. Although it's more of a full restaurant (with a great menu) we only wanted something light. The solution was for the two of us to share a starter and a main course, and the restaurant was perfectly... More

We were staying at the b&b next door so hadn't realised how busy the Anchor is on a weekend evening. The maitre very kindly squeezed us in for an early sitting despite all tables being taken that evening. (Thanks - we appreciated this) The meal was excellent quality, delightfully served. We suggest that the starter served in a jar could... More
