Having visited the almonry several times before, we were pleased when our 9 year old son requested to go there for our lunch today. We were not, however as impressed with the place as we have been in the past. The service was quite quick and proffesional but not happy. The young lady was pleasant but cold. The other young... We turned up here out of the blue one morning in Ely when I had to rush in to find a birthday present for someone. We decided we were hungry and needed breakfast, and walked past the Almonry on the way back to the car. Unfortunately when we checked the menu, there wasn't any breakfast items on it, but when... Stopped here for lunch after visiting the Cathedral. It offers a varied menu, from sandwiches, to baked potatoes and a full lunch menu, all of which is excellent and favourably priced

This was our first visit and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunchtime there. We were there for a sister's catch up and the setting was very peaceful and unhurried, a perfect opportunity for us to chat over our meal. The staff were all very cheery and prompt. The food was excellent quality, good portions and a good price. We will definitely... More

On first impressions, the staff just ignored us as we stood by the door waiting to be seated, only to be told when enquiring if we should do that, ' Yeah, cos there's no room at the moment' A little bit taken aback, but we had been recommended the place, so we decided to wait. Once sat, we ordered our... More

We both had sandwiches, they were excellent, generous, well presented. I had gluten free, the bread was lovely, it was also a very nice location and atmosphere.

First visit to Ely and found this as soon as we arrived through a walled gateway off the High Street and glad we did. Had a lunch overlooking the beautiful Cathedral and it didn't appear cheap on the menu but the portions and presentation made it inexpensive. Hubby had smolked salmon sandwiches which came loaded with delicious smoked salmon and... More

We had afternoon tea here - homemade scones, cream and jam and cold drinks as warm afternoon. The main area was closed and sadly there was a noisy table which meant we didn't stay as long as we might have done. The food was good.

A group of 40+ of us went to the Almonry restaurant for lunch today. The food, service, staff and atmosphere were excellent. The feedback from all the group was positive and I have no hesitation in recommending this venue.

We dined with friends on a Friday steak and chocolate night. This is a 2 course menu which includes a main steak course and a chocolate based dessert. The steak came with a very mean portion of sauce in a miniature pan and frozen chips. How long does it take to peel a potato and cook a hand cut chip??... More
