Not the biggest place in chester but they have a fantastic selection of real ales and ciders. We also had the pleasure of sampling the most fantatic steak and ale pie I have ever tasted in my life!!! Well worth a visit if you like your ales and good honest pub grub!

I went to this place with my colleague who is a fan of ales. I have to say that they have plenty of ales and they are really good. The food is good as well but my dish was a bit poor. I had a more expensive dish with fish and garden peas and the plate was half empty... I... More

Great ale house. Spacious place however not many places to sit. Good selection of drinks on offer. Good food menu however we didn't eat here so cannot comment on the food. People around us were eating and the food looked good.

We stopped in for our late Sunday lunch. We had a lovely lager or two, steak and ale pie and Welsh rarebit. A lovely old building converted into this inviting atmosphere with some of the old stones preserved and explained. Worth a visit!

Great real ale house! Teal ale as it should be, such a wide variety of cask ales by the amazing spitting feathers. Staff always polite friendly and nothing is too much trouble. If you want real ale/beer this is a must visit.

Good range of menu options to suit most tastes and preferences, 6 or so real ales kept to a good standard, mainly local, seating a little basic for some but suits a group out for a meal together, not a bar as such, steep stairs might be difficult access, not sure if there is another way in, quiet most days.

Recommended via Tripadvisor so visited. Well what a true disappointment. Watery Tap larger and amazed when barmaid supposedly forgot to return change out of £20 note for £4.80 order!! Nice little £14 tip so to speak. Just be careful when ordering. Hopefully just one staff member but no matter as just another trendy beer bar with second rate beers. Compare... More

yes we really enjoyed our visit to the Brewery Tap where they offer a good range of beers and an interesting menu. We had crab linguine and the braised beef pie, red cabbage and some great chunky chips! well cooked and presented - great value too - would recommend

Knew about this place from TP been waiting for the opportunity to pop in for a drink ... Great little watering hole with some very fine ales and ciders , can't wait to go back for a hearty pub lunch when the colder months come .

Beautiful old building.. I line up of great beers. Good atmosphere and pleasant staff. I didn't eat but the good looked very tempting. I will be back. 👍
