Recommended by B&B owner. Enjoyed a G&T (from an extensive & mouth-watering gin menu) beside the canal in the evening sunshine before moving inside the contemporary interior for dinner. Service and food were very good - we shared an antipasti plate to start and I enjoyed the sea bream & clam dish. We were too full for dessert sadly. A... More

Passed many times, but on this occasion an early evening get together was on the cards. Decor is distinctly urban with wooden floors and brickwork, not to mention the white seating. Service is friendly, drinks are brought to the table and the menu is varied. The beef and veal burger is very substantial and is served with fries and coleslaw,... More

We were on our way for Saturday lunch at harkers completely forgetting it was the races! We could hear the braying of the hooray Henrys before we rounded the corner as not only the bar was full but so was the canalside. As we stood to rethink our plans a chap was just leaving Artichoke and said it was excellent... More

We visited this bar / restaurant twice in three days as it had a great feel to it. First was for a full English breakfast which was excellent and slightly different. Home made ketchup, crusty bread for the toast, real butter and great bacon, sausage and black pudding and the best eggs ever. We had booked to eat elsewhere that... More

Really nice place, would recommend. We were here in the summer, so sat outside. The staff are friendly and food good. Prices a little to the higher end, but worth it. A bee fell into my drink, and they gave me a free one without me asking - bonus! The interior is well decorated and has character. There's a play... More

Have visited Artichoke in the past for breakfast, which is always delicious. We decided to give the Sunday lunch a try on this occasion and weren't disappointed. All three courses were lovely and the Sunday deal is great value. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable recommending the perfect ale. Will definitely return for Sunday lunch again - thank you Artichoke!

Has visited a few times now and service is always fantastic. Ususally seated quickly even without a booking, and the overall atmosphere is great. Food is great but it's slightly pricey compared to it's competition. Pizza's on a Monday are excellent value and the house wine is fantastic.

A really nice place to visit with great selection of real ales and very pleasant helpful staff - close to canal just off City Road. Food looked really nice but we had already eaten so did not sample.

Popped in for Bank Holiday Monday 2 for one Pizza. As usual food, service, selection consistently good. I cannot fault them. I had a Batshit Gin which was very very nice & my partner had the Budvar which he loves.

We'd spotted Artichoke from the canal bridge and resolved to check it out. On discovering it opened for a (late) breakfast we stopped in a little after opening time and given the reasonable weather, managed to get a seat outside on the canal towpath. Service was very good - with friendly, knowledgeable staff quick to attend to us. The breakfast... More
