I phoned and spoke to a Kate to ask if she could take a bottle of wine to my daughters table for dinner, she took our card details and said she would send the info across to the restaurant, this did not happen and completely...spoilt the gesture for my daughter and her friend to think of us as we were thinking of their break after a really difficult week and as a thinking of you gesture.More

Lovely setting. Lovely chilled atmosphere. Afternoon tea felt relaxed and more causal ie no cake stands. Delicious sandwiches and cake. Friendly service.

The service was pretty good, staff incredibly friendly but unfortunately not knowledgeable like you might expect from fine dining. We had the vegan menu and the starters were sharing plates. Every one of them was delicious and I could of happily had more of these...for the main. The mains did slightly let the menu down, although I enjoyed mine it was lacking in protein (as often with vegan fine dining) and the ingredients varied from the menu in both of our mains. When we queried this we were told 'the chef added the mushrooms to bulk it out' for my husbands, which is a bit naughty as there was another mushrooms dish and he specifically avoided it as not overly keen. Mine had almonds instead of hazelnuts which was fine but when I queried as was worried I had the wrong dish I was told 'they are hazelnuts,' although they weren't! A bit awkward. Desserts were nice, sorbets and pavlova very good, shortbread was OK - a bit rubbery. We were offered 'petit fours' as a good will gesture for the ingredients muddle up of the main, what came out were grapes, strawberries, more shortbread and a bowl of cream, a bit random but a nice gesture. The restaurant has a very chilled chic vibe, which is nice and inkeeping with a relaxing spa break.More

I appreciate the efforts the staff went to in these unprecedented times although the quality of the food did not really live up o our expectations

An obvious choice when staying at the Bedruthan after a long drive from London but the sizes price menu turned out to be slightly unimpressive. The Monk Fish piece felt like and. Afterthought and leftovers and really not like a meal the Tikka sauce no...attempt to disguise the supermarket pot it came from all in all could have tried harder but bad is a vacation destination that is easily getting high occupancy I guess not worth working hard for . Would I come back hmmmmmMore

Used the Bedruthan steps hotel quite a bit in the recent past but fell out with them a bit due to their dynamic pricing strategy and have stayed at either watergate bay or st enodoc more recently That said, I bit the bullet and we...had a group dinner with colleagues from a start up I’ve invested in down near Truro, at their Herring restaurant It was a good meal Lovely menu Excellent service Very good wine I would say I thought the portions were very small though Enjoyed it thoughMore

Excellent meal with attentive service! We dined at the Herring with little expectation of the hotel restaurant. The food was carefully crafted, using the finest local ingredients. The restaurant obviously has a very skilled group of chefs equally matched by the front of house team....Service was attentive and very professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our three courses!! Delicious!!More

We celebrated my birthday at The Herring last night and the room was cosy, intimate and we loved having a private booth to ourselves. The choice of wine was great. The menu wasn’t huge (but I think that’s a good thing - never trust a...long menu) but everything I ate was beautiful. Fresh with real depth of flavour and beautifully presented. I was made to feel really special (like an individual not just another guest) thank you for great customer service, well cooked food and for attention to detail.More
