It's so sad that this place currently overlooks the demolition of The burnt out Clarence hotel but it is just such a sweet place for a cuppa. Excellent tea and very friendly service.

After walking around Exeter and checking out of Premier inn we decided for a spot of breakfast, We decided on the Tea on the Green as it's a great spot and more importantly it's independent, As Exeter has far too many chain restaurants, I had the Ulster breakfast and my partner had the breakfast hash, both had coffee's and fruit... This turned out to be a real treat. A very wide selection of gluten free choices on the menu. This is aided because they bake their own bread. Service was excellent.

I visited with my parents who were coming up for the weekend for lunch and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the experience was. The food options were quite basic but were good quality. For a small restaurant the staff were very attentive and the food came very quickly. It also has a good view of the green in front... More

Had delicious Eggs Benedict at Tea on the Green yesterday. As a coeliac I have to eat gluten free and the waitress was very well informed and talked me through the menu and understood about cross contamination. I also had a cappuccino and was able to have chocolate on it as it was GF. The service was excellent and there... More

Glad we booked a table as a constant stream of disappointed people were turned away as full. The 3 of us had the rare roast beef, lovely roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. Veg served seperately, good variety and nicely cooked, not hot when served but quickly reheated without fuss. Had puddings the chocolate tart was lovely and bitter and slightly... More

A nice location overlooking the cathedral. Pleasant staff and a wide menu. I had a half hash which is available as a vegetarian or carnivorous option and was glad I had the smaller option. It was great. An excellent range of "real" teas too. Highly recommended.

After a long journey we were glad of a cup of tea and couldn't resist the cakes on offer. A single slice of spiced apple cake was ample for two. The friendly owner chatted to many of the customers and a quick stop for refreshment turned into a very pleasant introduction to the city. The demolition work nearby spoils the... More

I've had brunch here a couple of times. It's always a favourite when I have friends visiting. I got stuck into a Veggie Half Hash, which was surprisingly large- the veggie sausages a personal favourite. We sat outside, unfortunately the construction works next door hinder the view a little but that is not the cafés fault. The only reason I... More

Description
We are a daytime cafe with lovely views of Exeter Cathedral and the green. We have outdoor seating and seating on two floors inside. Open for breakfast, lunch, Sunday Roasts, and afternoon teas, we source from local, small suppliers as it's good for the environment and the food tastes better. Our coffee is excellent, our choice of teas extensive (no teabags here), and wines, beers, ciders, and lagers produced by small, local family businesses. Open 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays. This is an independent, owner operated cafe. We give 1% of our profits to Medecins sans Frontieres. Cream Teas are served from 230pm (We recognise that not serving cream teas at lunchtime is not a popular policy and admit we do this partly for economic reasons. Better to be up front and honest about it!). We are generally a daytime only restaurant, but we open in the evenings during graduation week, on Fridays in the summer, and for private functions (please phone us if you are interested)
