I don't usually write reviews but I felt compelled to after my family's experience at the Captain's House. During a pleasant morning strolling with Lynmouth, my family and I were seeking a quiet, outdoor place to have lunch under the sun and thought the Captain's House's would be ideal with their beautiful garden and located close to the river. As... More

At the end of our Two Moors Way walk we celebrated with a Cream Tea in the garden. The scones and tea were good as was the setting - away from the busy side of the river. However it was let down by the service which seemed brusk - maybe because we were a group of 8.

What an awful place! The garden is very pleasant but unfortunately that's where it ends at the captains house. There are no menus and the only one outside has no prices (he friend saying the rain had washed them off) however other reviewers have had the same problem, I think he needs some new chalk. I've never encountered such a... More

Never thought to check TA before heading here, we went for a lovely walk along the river and then saw this sweet little place with s beautiful garden. We arrived and rang the bell, we sat down and he cleared or table and asked what we wanted and we asked for menus. He told us to get up and look... More

What attracted us in to here on our walk was the very pretty garden. The cream tea was fine but would be better if you were given a choose of 2 scones each as it was fair too much there was 2 children in our group and they were also given 2. But was nice for them to be offered... More

Stopped for a cup of tea...ended up with x 2 cream teas and an ice cream for my daughter - £12.50. My wife wanted to use the toilet, but had to cross the river bridge to use the toilets in the public car park....... The cream tea was good to be fair but we only wanted a cup of tea.....hard... Fantastic riverside setting, a perfect guest house in beautiful old Lynmouth. We Had a super holiday, nice spacious bedroom, light and airy, with views to die from our window. We love The Captain's House and can't back to return.

Found this to be a well run family tea room, that offered a range of teas, cream teas and cakes, lovely garden, large pot of tea, two scones jam and cream. Very enjoyable and a lovely spot

Hi we agree with Tommy1420s comments wholeheartedly! I was with my wife, we were the couple Tommy wished the best of luck! Interestingly my wife Janet rang the door bell for attention as she was looking to use the toilet before we left. He took 10 minutes to answer the door and she was chastised for ringing the bell twice.... More
