Been here a couple of times. Charming tea rooms, low ceilings, cosy tables, delicious menu & friendly hosts.

Couldn't resist this place when we saw it with friends and it exceeded our expectations. Delicious tea & cake, lovely atmosphere & the owners/hosts were fabulous. It was such a pleasure to get to know them that we couldn't resist to go back for lunch the next day. Go to this place not to sit in silence but make friends.... More

Very nice little coffee shop, staff very pleasant and helpful, cakes were delicious and very light. If we had one small issue it was that the tables were very cramped and the people next to me were continuously banging my chair but other than that, a nice visit and will definitely go back.

There should me more places like Badgers in the UK. Great food, excellent tea and coffee and professional service. The tea room is well layout with plenty of character. There is a tea garden which would eb fantastic in the summer time. Don't miss this one. An excellent find.

Even though breakfast was included in the price in our hotel, we came here instead... so friendly, so good! Avocado and sourdough with poached egg... amazing, good coffees, such a cosy atmosphere too!

I cannot recommend this place enough. A group of four of us were staying in an Airbnb opposite and first thing in the morning started to see cakes and scones appearing in the window. We went that afternoon for cake and had a great time. It's super cozy, really nicely decorated and most importantly the cakes were delicious. To top... More

Came here today for lunch and very much enjoyed it. Tasty food, and very pleasant service. We got the last table, and people were waiting for seats. There's a lovely little garden but a bit too chilly on a November day!

Now this is what I call a proper tea shop. Badgers is fantastic. We went there 3 years ago during a 3 day stay in the area and I have thought of nothing else since. I longed to go back so we did just that yesterday. We drove from Essex to Alfriston specifically to have tea at Badgers and it... More

This tea room has received good reports from a number of newspapers and they are well deserved. We popped in for tea, coffee and scones mid-morning. We got a warm welcome, a good table by the window and excellent drinks and scones. They soon filled up and it was apparent that several of the customers were regulars, and that says... More

Welcome to our historic tea house! Alfriston was granted its market charter in 1406, and the house at Badgers dates from 1510 – over 500 years old! We know it was the village bakery for 200 years until 1933, and proprietor Michael Luttig and manager Lynn Attfield continue the tradition of exceptional baking on the premises. “Dissenters” from St Andrews Church met here in the late 18th Century until they built their own independent church (now the United Reformed Church) in 1801. We even have a Standing Stone in the pavement outside the front door…
