The food is really good at this restaurant - every mouthful delicious. But mean-sized portions for the price, with sides charged as extra.

The occasion was a business meal for five over a conference - venue recommended by the lead delegate and it was certainly 'super repas' in my book. I had the lamb, tongue caponata which was a triumph, followed by the magnificent cheese platter washed down...More

We tried here as recommended by friends. After perusing the lunch menu we opted for the fairly priced set menu. Both our starters were amazing having cured hake and tomato and mozzarella. We both opted for the steak for main which we both thoroughly enjoyed...More

The menu is not that extensive, it doesn't need to be. The Meat Platter is great, I found myself delving deep into my memory or at time google to understand all the ingredients in the meals, you know the "what is that?" feeling. The wine...More

This was my husband & my favourite restaurant in Brighton by miles. We went for our anniversary earlier this month but we felt it had really gone downhill. We ordered the terrine to start but it was filled with gherkins which we both picked out....More

What lovely, tasty food! From the moment we arrived we were looked after with enthusiasm and warmth. Interesting and varied menu but we all chose the steak which was the best we've ever had. We shared a selection of yummy starters. An excellent restaurant.

Have now been several times. Menu is French and changes regularly. Staff are welcoming, helpful and efficient. Wines are all organic and the list is fairly extensive. Kitchen closes between 3 and 6 but the place stays open for drinks, including some great cocktails. They...More

Description
Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
