Well worth a visit if you are in Brighton. Thoroughly enjoyed the food (scallops to start, followed by steak for main - both were delicious) but the evening was let down by the service we received. As an example, it took at least 15 minutes...More

Been several times. Being resident here, my partner and I eat around Brighton a lot. This is the 'go to' place to take friends to showcase Brighton's cuisine and service at its best.

This was a first time visit although we had already visited Plateau's sister restaurant, Mange Tout near Brighton Station a couple of times. There's a bit more leg and elbow room at Plateau that at MT with the decor a little more classy while the...More

My boyfriend and I came across this restaurant when exploring Brighton and loved the look of the specials board so decided to go in. My boyfriend had an Onglet steak and I had a rolled skate wing (both on the specials board). Each meal was...More

First time at Plateau but certainly earmarked for a return visit. A busy Friday night that did not affect the excellent service and quality of the food. The scallops were scrumptious as a starter then my husband and I shared the meat plater for two....More

Visiting Brighton for the first time for the day, from London, we felt very lucky to pass by Plateau ; our lunch could not have been better ! Relaxed atmosphere. The day menu is small yet varied and innovative enough to provide an option to...More

We were delighted with this restaurant! Basic furnishings and a relaxed yet buzzy atmosphere. We lunched on a warm day and the whole of the front window was removed to provide an outdoor feel. The menu was limited but very interesting and every dish each...More

Description
Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
