We have eaten here several times but today our lunch was very disappointing. My husband ordered French Onion Soup which he found quite tasteless so only drank half of it. He ordered Beef Bourginon which was ok except they had used Pickled onions ! The...More

The location is great. The ingredients are good. The steak tartare was very nice as was the smoked salmon. The chicken and artichoke was so bland it was pointless. The steaks (ordered rare, medium rare and medium well) came rare, cold and well done respectively....More

The good or the bad? Bad first. We had finished our meal and were sitting with our wine when a waiter who had not served us came to inform us that they needed the table and we could sit in the bar to finish our...More

Having booking afternoon tea some 6 weeks ahead of the day I was rather disappointed when we arrived as a table hadn't been set up for us. We were offered and area to sit in either the bar area or upstairs in a gallery or...More

When we arrived for a hen party afternoon tea we were shown to a room that said meeting in progress. The table looked nice but then the savory plate arrived which was ok but had very small portions when we asked if there was any...More

We just experienced such a disappointing evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We chose the restaurant because it was where we first met 7 years ago, at which time it offered great food, service and ambience. We drove to Brighton looking forward to our evening...More

We stumbled upon this little place quite by accident and were particularly impressed with the look of the fixed price menu. As we had our two little dogs with us, we were sat in the bar area which was no problem at all. It was...More

Our second visit and as before the service was not great. The welcome from person on the meet and greet podium was busy chatting with another member of staff, I would add it was not idle chit chat but a nice smile and an acknowledgement...More

Shorts are fine in the courtyard but not really appropriate in the Bistro... but their dress code is pretty relaxed having said that.

The Hotel du Vin Bistro in Brighton is just off the seafront and five minutes from the madly inspiring shops in The Lanes, but who would want to leave? Set in a collection of gothic and Tudor revival buildings built by, so apt, a wine merchant, the hotel has the trademark stylish, witty, super comfortable dcor that has won the group so many awards. The restaurant is elegant and relaxed and usually full, offering a menu rooted in classic European cuisine with a contemporary edge. The simple classics change seasonally, augmented by head chef Rob Carrs own creations each day. The extensive, eclectic wine list is central to the hotel, with a great number of choices by the glass.
