The freshest and best tasting fish and chips we've ever had. Great friendly staff. The chef even showed me the whole fish and asked what portion size I would like. I had asked for large Huss and chips. My wife also found the Cod just perfect.

Once again The Wife found Maggies on TripAdvisor as she was keen to have some decent fish and chips whilst in Hastings and having read the reviews she was nervous about not being able to get in so phoned and booked straight away. I found this a bit funny as there are so many fish and chip restaurants in Hastings... More

Having been recommended to this restaurent on several occasions, I thought I would try it for myself. How disappointed I was when the plate turned up with very floury frozen chips . The fish was certainly fresh enough, but very thin. In fact ,there was absolutely no taste at all, very, very, bland. To say, that I was probably the first customer of... More

The owners of Swan House B&B reserved us a table and it was just as well as it was buzzing when we arrived. The staff were extremely friendly and we ordered the fish of the day...skate. The food arrived served with homemade tartare sauce and a taster of a Hastings sauce 'Lemon Ketchup'. The sauce was so nice we bought... More

Rang around 11.15am, yes they could fit us in!! Hurrah!! Best and freshest fish and chips around, fast service given with a smile by hardworking staff. Steaming hot mug of tea as well. Wouldn't go anywhere else with my grandchildren. Thank you Maggies, for the plaice, skate and dabs on your specials board, they were all delicious

What better place to put a fish and chip cafe than on the beach, overlooking the boats that bring the fish that you sell? Giving your meal a carbon foot print of yards!!! Welcome to Maggie's! Initial impression - it's rather like stepping back in time - ever so slightly retro-throwing up the best of childhood memories. It's simple-spotless-doesn't try... More

Having heard number of recommendation about Maggie's we thought we would give it a go. The view is different as you are looking out over the harbour and fishing fleet of Hastings. The fish and chips are nothing special. We have had better from a number of local Fish and Chip shops.

Maggie's gets its fish fresh every morning from the fishing boats that land on the beach outside the window. It's a little out of the way cafe tucked into one of the iconic Hastings Black net huts. Be warned - they serve enormous portions of meltingly fresh fish and perfect crispy chips. Anywhere else in the south-east this meal would... More

This was recommended by family who live in the area. The setting is wonderful, close to the net sheds, near the beach and great if you want to buy fresh fish Our meal, however, was a disappointment - I felt I needed help to crack both the fatter and the chips ooen. Once I got inside the fish it was... More

Description
Here at Maggie's we're in our third decade of serving you hearty portions of the freshest fish, cooked to order, in a warm and welcoming cafe - the same traditional family-friendly approach as when Margaret Banfield first put her name above the door. We're right on the Fisherman's Beach - so you'll enjoy some spectacular views while you tuck in to our fish, direct from the market below us and our specials are straight off the boats with the morning catch - keeping a carbon footprint of less than 20 miles. You can't get fresher than that! Maggie's is licensed too, so you can enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with your meal. We are open six days a week, but it's advisable to call us ahead to reserve your table, and if you've got a special occasion, we welcome parties of up to 40 guests.
