Return visit to possibly the best no-nonsense cafe in the country and nothing has changed, least of all the great food and the huge portions thereof. Books to read, papers to peruse, "stuff" all over the walls... what's not to love ?

Went on a trip to Rye Harbour village today. Fancied lunch, and was advised to go in here. And boy was it worth it. The food is locally sourced - bread from local bakers etc. My partner and I chose to have a sandwich - BLT for me and Bacon and Egg for him. £9 for two sandiches but boy... More

Simple homemade food, prepared and served in a pleasant straightforward way. The bacon sandwiches are delicious and if you're really hungry the full English breakfast is great.

We were made very welcome, and enjoyed a hearty well-cooked plate of locally-sourced food. The granary bread in particular was delicious! We continued our walk feeling well insulated from the January winds.

We headed off to our favourite breakfast spot today!! Bowsuns Bite .....as usual a delicious breakfast and such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere... Thoroughly recommend and a great but chilly walk out to the sea, popping into the hide on the way to spot the wading birds etc. ....to walk off some of the calories!!!!

A cute cafe on rye harbour where dogs are welcome inside. Full menu from English breakfast to home made chilli and sandwiches. Friendly staff, great food, great prices. ( breakfast £7, fish and chips £8. Jacket potato with filling 4.50. Sandwiches £5) Been twice. Both times excellent and can see why they earnt a certificate of excellence. Will definitely return.

We went inside after walking around in the heavy rain in the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. We had some tea, coffee, caramel shortbread and a wrap that we shared. I told the lady behind the counter that it was my partners birthday (because he got to choose the filling of the wrap). When the wrap came, it had a little... More

Took my fiancé to bosuns bite for the first time and she was in vegetarian gluten free full English heaven! The usual full plate of food, perfect after a winters walk, with a choice of 5 different varieties of sausage, and triple seeded bread to boot. We could barely finish the generous portions, all highest quality ingredients, and the usual... More

I visited the Bosun's Bite for breakfast following a walk around the nearby Rye Harbour Nature Reserve with a friend. When we arrived the lady running the cafe was very cheerful and charming. The inside of the cafe is decorated with nautical items including RNLI souvenirs for sale. We ordered a sausage and bacon roll along with a sausage, bacon,... More

Great place to eat, reasonable price and good quality. Ideal after a walk along the beach. Plenty of FREE parking at the nearby carpark and close to the local convenience's.

We are a family run business, set in the tranquil setting of Rye Harbour, situated opposite the Lifeboat house. We are adjacent to the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and River Rother and a short stroll from the beach. We are open 364 days a year (take Christmas day off and cook at home instead!), and are open from 9am til 3ish!We take pride in using only the finest ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible, free range, cook every order from fresh and only serve door-stops of the best bread! We are bike friendly, dog friendly, child friendly and customers with specific diets are welcome to bring their own food (we don't cater specifically for gluten free etc, yet). There is loads and loads of FREE parking,a rarity these days! Please don't park in the Lifeboat bays, if there is a shout you could get boxed in for hours! If there is a shout, please bear with me as the family are all on the crew and there's little staff left to look after all the customers! but you will see the boat in action. Catch us when we're quiet and we can give you a personal tour of the station!Donations to the RNLI are always welcome!
