Lovely place to stop for lunch with friendly locals and great food. The beautifully cooked steaks came from the chef's father's farm and the salad vegetables tasted as though they'd come straight from a backyard garden. The Golden Ball prides itself on its plot to plate philosophy and using local produce at every opportunity- and by local, they mean just... More

We stopped at this Cotswold pub after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor and weren't disappointed. The menu is pretty much what you would expect from an English country pub and we both enjoyed our meal. The service was average, but the young lady who was taking orders and serving the food was also working behind the bar, so probably a... More

We rented a cottage just across the road from this pub so it was extremely handy. A friendly welcome from the landlady on our first visit so we stayed for dinner. Good well cooked pub grub all with ample portions. We popped over for a few more drinks during our stay.

Booked a table for dinner after attending the gold cup. Lovely traditional English pub serving good English food. Our table was ready for us on arrival and the young lady who looked after our table was very attentive and nothing was any trouble to her. Even when a bus load arrived in for a drink she bought our drinks to... More

Visited in February at lunchtime. I have to pretty much agree with one of the previous reviews, food was good though a little on the expensive side, good service, but let down by the place being so very cold. Would definitely visit again but during warmer weather.

Came here for a Birthday celebration Sunday Lunch. Made welcome by a cheery barmaid , the pub was warm with log burners in Inglenook fireplaces. There was a good choice of dishes on the menu at a reasonable price. The roast beef and the steaks are sourced locally and are superb. A great place to visit.

We visited here as a family and the pub was very local to the cottage we were staying in on holiday. The food was amazing and really stood out from all the other places we'd eaten at in the Cotswolds. The locals were all chatting with their beers (What a community should be like in England !!) and the staff... More

Met up with a relative for what we hoped would be a cosy Cotswold pub lunch. As far as the food goes, really good. Not cheap but probably appropriately priced for the quality. Service with a smile. Nothing too much trouble. However, on a Wednesday lunchtime in February, we were the only customers over a two hour period. So atmosphere... More

We found this pub, which is in the country outside of Stowe, by a happy accident. The building is old but inside its clean and bright, the service friendly, the food much better than it needed to be, and the local beer was delicious and cheap. We sat by the fire, enjoyed our lunch and drank our inexpensive beers and... More

I visited with friends on a summer motorcycle ride and thought the terrace a great spot to eat, watching the cows in the nearby field eat their lunch.
