I visited Spice Island on the evening of Thursday 24 November 2016 with a group of 20 ladies and must say that we all had a wonderful evening. I had been concerned about being responsible for organising a venue for such a large group but I need not have worried. We had advised the restaurant of our menu choices during... More

We visit Portsmouth quite often and have found the Spice Island to be very hit and miss. We stopped going there for some time due to a few problems but on our last visit to Portsmouth the place had been subject to a refit and we thought we would give it another try. On Friday 25th November 2016 we had... More

Staff welcoming (Vicki,Shelagh,Rachel and 2 young men - all helpful and CHEERFUL which has encouraged my friend (disabled) and myself to visit 3 weeks running. Tasty food (nice Fries), hot plates (essential) and children portions available. Comfortable seating and pleasant surroundings. Good to see Dogs welcome. Hope the good standard will continue in this Pub in its exceptional, interesting setting.

We discovered this pub by chance, and were not disappointed. Good pub food and a wide choice of beers, with an excellent view of the river traffic passing right in front of our window table.

Noticed this pub on previous visit, so decided to try it when down again to see son at university. Family of four served at lunchtime with nicely portioned and tasty food and quite reasonable prices. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Great service and lovely views over the harbour. Would be even better in summer.

Decided to visit for a few drinks and food. Service and staff were very welcoming and the choice of draught lagers were exceptional. Food on the other hand was a bit disappointing.. I had fish and chips, the batter was slightly over cooked and lacked fish inside and it was curly. Chips were lovely though, not sure they were 'triple'... More

We often ate at Spice Island before the refurbishment as the menu offered good value for money. It also catered for older customers with smaller portion meals which i know was very popular with many people. On our visit this week,we were very disappointed to see that this has gone from the menu along with other offers. We were told that Greene King... This is a great place for a meal. Pleasant walk along the front at Southsea down to Spice Island. Wonderful views of the busy harbour and across to Gunwharf Quays. There is always something to watch on this very busy waterway. The top floor is the best place to sit to enjoy the best views. This is a very popular... More

Description
The Spice Island Inn is situated on The Point in Old Portsmouth with the most beautiful view across Portsmouth's busy harbour, Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower. Originally 3 pubs that were converted into one in 1991. We are an exceptionally busy pub in the warmer summer months and if you want to have a leisurely drink and/or something to eat this is the place for you. We have 2 bars and tables in the upper bar can be reserved, there are a number of seats outside too which are very well used in the summer months. Some people believe Spice Island is a restaurant, but in reality it is a pub with a good food offering. Our speciality dish is hand battered fish & chips which is popular with many of our customers. We do hire out our upper bar for private functions and events. There is always at least 3 cask conditioned ales available, with guest ales making a regular appearance.
