The chef has changed. We ordered the food but it is not the same as before... three years ago the benchmark was very much higher. Will need to find a new Chinese place in Southampton... any recommendations? We ordered the Pipa Tofu, the Shrimp in Sichuan sauce, watercooked lamb and Choysum vegetables. Before (3 years ago) : 8/10 Today (unfortunately)... More

Visited on the evening before joining a cruise ship, and needed somewhere to eat. Found this place and decided to give it a go, first impressions were reasonably good as the majority of the customers were Chinese which is usually a good indicator that the food is good. Menu appeared to be quite extensive, we chose a set meal. Food... More

Went for a family lunch on Sunday, had been recommended by Chinese friend. We were delighted to find a mainland Chinese place in central Southampton! Try the "dry wok spicy beef" if you like spicy Szechuan food. To address the bad reviews about service and children running around, this is all completely normal for a Chinese restaurant... in China! The... More

First of all, let me say that I've lived and worked in China for a number of years. I also speak Mandarin. Secondly, I've been here a number of times under the various guises and let me agree with all of the comments: the oily floor; the toddler; the at-best indifferent service; the odd decor. However, when I'm here, it's... More

The decor is not good, no two ways about it. Babies and children running around was not something I expected in a restaurant but reading the other reviews, it was not a one off. But the food was tasty, 8 of us and we all enjoyed our meals. It was very busy for a Wednesday night and watching the Chinese... More

The moment me and my family walked in, the children almost tripped due to the slippery oily floor. When we got into the restaurant, it felt like we just walked in to someone else's house as you can see the staff playing with what must be the employer's toddler. Not a great first impression I would say. We requested for... More

My husband and I recently went to the Royal Wok for lunch. First impressions were not very good. There was a baby in a baby walker going around the restaurant, she belonged to one of the waitresses. We ordered some dim sum and some beef Ho fun noodles. The dim sum were shop bought and had no taste whatsoever and... More

Baby in a walker as we walked in, waitress not the most fluent but better at English than I am at Chinese! 8 of us settled in, chose the banquet for two and tweaked the meals slightly more to our taste. Plus points here for accommodating the changes. Sills dusty, toilets are dated with manky carpets. Wc has never seen... More

***Do not go here*** They cheated us!!! They said we had to buy two set meals but we only got one! Soo mad, disappointed and downhearted. We also got cheated on the beer! They said it was pints but when it arrived it was bottles. These people are dangerous.
