We like a traditional , comfy no - frills pub. This one ticks all the boxes. Slightly shabby, but more lived in than neglected. Friendly staff, especially the young girl who served us. Amazing food! Best f n c my husband had had in ages, totally tasty, crisp and non greasy. My home made steak and ale pie (proper pastry!)... More

What a wonderful authentic pub experience! The food is absolutely delicious with wonderful presentation, and the service impeccable. We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and friendly bartender. I highly recommend the Duke of Wellington!

Stopped for a drink and bit to eat. The bar staff were attentive and friendly. Special mention to the lady chef, who prepared fantastic food at a good price. Food is highly recommended.

Eight of us for Sunday lunch. Range of beers all reasonable. Good selection of food. Busy pub but didn't have to wait long for our lunch. All arrived at same time, big platefuls with generous amounts of beef, roast potatoes ( very crunchy ) and veg ( cooked spot on ) . Can't fault them, certainly ranks up there with... More

popped in for a pint and an evening meal. Good selection of real ales. Staff warm and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed fish and chips served beautifully and my wife enjoyed the fish pie albeit drowned with vegitables slightly overcooked. Worth a visit if you like real ale good food and a good pub atmosphere..

A pork roast and a Brie, walnut and beetroot tart with chips and salad. Lovely food washed down with a drink (a decent Sauvignon blame and a pint or two of Bishop's Tipple. All very good. Nice pub atmosphere, though there is a restaurant at the back and a function room upstairs. A friendly atmosphere that feels like a local.... More

Fantastic old pub, lovely open fire & great beer. Food was good too & not too badly priced. Would definitely go back if in the area.

Fantastic fish and chips with mushy peas. Not only does it have a great taste, but the portions are big. Good selection of beers and ales.

This is one of the oldest pubs in Southampton so it's definitely worth stopping in here on at least one occasion as it's kept its charm and traditional character. It feels more like a country pub than an inner city place. Since moving into the city centre recently though I've been to the Duke of Wellington on a Friday night... More
