I went here for my work christmas party, and everyone had a fantastic time. All the food was lovely and came out without delay despite the restaurant being really busy and there being 10 of us. Glyn and his staff were fantastic hosts all night and very attentive. We shall certainly be returning!

Tucked away in St Albans Number 23 really is a hidden gem for Tapas lovers. The restaurant is small and intimate with hidden nooks and crannies. With 11 of us we sampled the major of menu and all the food was lovely. Couldn't recommend Number 23 more

A spontaneous meal meant we hopped onto Opentable and managed to get a booking 15 mins from our arrival. Restaurant was very quiet at 630 but comfortably livened up as the evening progressed. Really helpful staff and food was incredible. Will be back for sure.

We recently moved to St Albans and are still trying to discover the good independent restaurants around. We were very pleased with this British tapas restaurant which is tooked away from the high street in a 1500's historic building. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the food is great. Definitely one place I'll go when I have friends or family... More

Tucked away in St Albans is a real gem for Tapas lovers. The place was small and intimate but you didn't feel closed in. Service came with a smile The food was second to none. The menu was small but on the money. Recommend the black pudding dish and goats cheese with beetroot. Wine list was very good value. Will... More

We visited this restaurant before going to Theatre. The staff were very friendly, the Restaurant is nice and cosy, the concept of British Tapas, great. 4 dishes + chips was more than enough. Portions were a good size for sharing. A very nice dining experience, thank you

Was really excited to go here for my husband's birthday but felt let down by the food and service. The servings of tapas are quite small in my opinion for the price - three prawns, three meatballs, two aubergine rolls - and the hot dishes had obviously just come out of the microwave. We had seven dishes between two of... More

Hi Kathrynhhhh, please accept my apologies for your disappointing evening at our restaurant. Let me first assure you that our food is not all microwaved, if you do decided to give us another go, I would be happy to give you a table in the back room where you can see all the food being prepared and cooked in our... We went here for our anniversary dinner and thought we were onto a winner as it was nearly booked up, so we had an early evening booking. Unfortunately we were a bit underwhelmed by the experience. The Camembert was served in its original wrapper, brand and sell-by-date fully visible. The wild boar pie was actually delicious but there was little... More

Hi Pete R, I’m sorry you felt a bit underwhelmed by your visit to our restaurant. We will look into the presentation of our Camembert, leaving it in the box is really so that customers can get every last bit with the toast and it keeps hot for longer. I’m very pleased you found the Wild Boar delicious, the small... More

What a shame. The food is better than average but the staff and the management really dragged this restaurant down. They struggled to raise a smile, they weren't happy to be there - even the manager/proprietor. Twice I had to ask them to clear our table and then they left half of the plates until I got up and asked... More

Hi Ryan K, Please accept my apologies that your night was not all you expected it to be. I can assure you that myself and my staff did want to be there, it is my livelihood and the way I support my family. Unfortunately on this occasion we were several members of staff short and the look on my face... More

My partner and I visited Number 23 today for lunch. After months of meaning to go today was finally the day. Well the food was lovely, I couldn't fault all the different options or the amazing taste. However there are a couple of things that make this a 4 rather than a 5 in my opinion. Firstly although the food... More
