Had a lovely evening here! Great special dinner, went on Easter Sunday so unsure if this is normal, but there weren't many options on the menu- we all found something we were happy with though! The Camembert starter in particular was really lovely.

The atmosphere is great relaxing plenty of space between tables which all adds to a good dining experience, the food was excellent well presented and just the right amount.

Freddie's is a busy Mediterranean style fairly smart restaurant just off the St Albans city centre. It is a light welcoming place which we have eaten at several times over the years with mixed experiences We visited most recently on Mothering Sunday for lunch and as other reviews have said it was really packed including a number of large groups.... I did not like this restaurant at all. They kept us waiting for our table and seemed too busy to care. The food was average at best and small portions and cold. The vegetables were hard and tasteless. My friend's main course was served incorrectly. One waitress was lovely but others were indifferent. I thought it was very expensive for... More

Despite the previous review about Mothering Sunday being so negative, I'm pleased to say that our meal for our large group of 6 and a baby in a high chair was great. The food was well cooked and presented well. The restaurant was packed because of the occasion, but the service wasn't compromised. My only gripe is about the bill.... More

We visited here after reading the reviews and I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, this was one of the worst restaurants which I have visited in St Albans. Service was slow and shoddy, steaks were all overcooked and to top it off it took 30 mins to get the bill! Overpriced, terrible service and terrible food.

A deferred birthday dinner treat. Great service ( we were the only couple in the restaurant - admittedly early at 6:40 pm ) but nevertheless, great food, wonderful starter of Mackerel Pate with a sublime roasted red pepper jus. The crowning glory was the dessert: profiteroles as you have never tasted them but have always yearned for. Not for these... More

Visited with friends and had a lovely 3 course meal. Food is standard British fayre-cooked very well and high quality ingredients. Service was exceptional There is a fixed price menu for 2 or 3 courses if you desire. Didn't really get the name and the link with the food they serve. Had several local awards for dining
