Took my team here for lunch before Christmas and was very impressed. We plumped for the two course lunch menu and was very impressed with the quality and service. We had selection of carpaccio ( very good), mussels ( superbly cooked), pizza ( very big!), duck (delicious) and pasta ( venison ragu) washed down with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.... More

Lovely ambience for a meal with a group of friends. Tables weren't too close together like in some restaurants. Staff were friendly and attentive. Good menu selection. Generous portion sizes too!

Food is OK but atmosphere is lacking... Food is generally good but not everything on the menu is very appealing and the service is so irritating. On the several occasions that I've been to Café du Soleil the service has been well meaning but poorly judged. There were various different waiting staff swooping in every few minutes. We were initially... More

Been to this lovely restaurant a few times now. Just love it and will be back. The food is so gorgeous and reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere, brilliant staff and lovely setting but the star is the food

Booked as we were off to The Marlow. Nicely greeted and our table was ready. Lovely stone and flint walls with a number of works of art on the wall - they are fab, take time to look. We had a mix of,aged 4 to 67, and the menu had choices for all of us. I have the brisket with... More

Our office went to Cafe de Soleil for our office Christmas dinner. The restaurant is just along from our office but we went because of past experiences of good meals in a relaxed restaurant in a beautiful restored historic building. C d S has been around for years but is just as good as ever. Good food and service

Lovely atmosphere and was most welcoming to our party of 8 women from our lunch club. It was close to Christmas and we did not have the Christmas menu but the alternative was terrific. Good choice from the set menu. I will definitely go back as a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We have eaten here three time since last year. Each time great food, good service and all at good value. A real treat.

I came here on New Year's Day with my girlfriend at lunchtime and we both had the 2 course meal! It was our first visit at this restaurant.. I had calamari as starter ( the best I ever had in Canterbury) and Fettuccine with ragu as main .. my girlfriend had parmigiana as starter and Fettuccine as main as well... More

We come here for Sunday lunch most weeks as the food is so good. The beef carpaccio is better than any I've had in Italy and the calamari is always cooked well with a tasty, chilli lime dressing. We tend to have the chicken avocado salad which is delicious but any other dish I've had here has always been good.... More

Description
Cafe du Soleil is situated beside the river Stour in Canterbury occupying a former 18th century wool store and is accessed by its own bridge over the river. The building was restored with a grant from English Heritage and showcases the extensive use of reclaimed building material from the 14C city wall.

Our cuisine draws influence from Provence in southern France, and from Italy, to create a modern Mediterranean cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons, and much of our food is cooked in our wood burning oven, fed with locally sourced wood from managed forest.
