An impromptu lunchtime visit, no booking and a pretty crowded pub. However, no effort spared to find us a table by friendly, courteous staff. The meal was first rate (and I don't have great expectations of SN, based on my usual local dining - Deal)....More

We were sat in the upstairs medieval hall which is stunning. I ordered ribs which were described as succulent but they were dry and barely warm. I asked for extra barbecue sauce which took an age. When it arrived I'd virtually finished. The waitress explained...More

Excellent gourmet food. Exceptional garlic bread, melon and cheese starter, and pork slab of ribs. Rib eye with peppercorn gravy was also great...except that British beef is never up to American standards (chewy, tough). Friendly service and big diverse menu.

This was recommended by a friend who visited last year from Canada. We were not disappointed. The food, service and ambience was first class.

My friend told me this is one of the oldest pubs in Kent. The staff here are extremely friendly. Drinks are overpriced though. Shame the kitchen was closed. They have a lovely outside seating area.
