We had their afternoon tea for 2 which was excellent value with a large warm scone, butter, jam and cream. Another time, I also had a baguette which was freshly prepared, filled with prawns and served with a large portion of chips and salad. Again very good value. Drinks were a reasonable price too. Well worth trying.

We turned up without a booking and were shown to a quiet table. Wait staff were very friendly and efficient and kept checking around the restaurant to see if they were needed. They did this without being intrusive. The meals we had were full of flavour, well presented & reasonably priced. We enjoyed a lovely New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which... More

We frequently eat here before going on the Marlowe Theatre opposite. The food is good and the menu varied. There is a childrens' menu. The restaurant is popular with families pre pantomime season. Booking is essential.

I cannot praise this restaurant/bar enough. To start with the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the waiter. The food was first class, beautifully cooked and obviously home made. Lovely decor and atmosphere and if you are going to see a show at The Marlowe Theatre, then this place is ideal for either pre/post meal, and you can even... More

I had beef stew, if thats what they call it, lumps of meat in a tomato and paprika greasy gravy and only luke warm, no dumplings or veg. My wife had roast Lamb again luke warm undercooked... More

Somewhat dubious about visiting any restaurant for a meal after a show at the Marlowe Theatre, since the expectation would be that the place would be crowded and service possibly slow. Not so at The Pilgrim's Rest! Fourteen of us on one table, joined by several other tables in the same room and yet service was slick, waiters and waitresses... More

Dropped in here for a lovely glass of rose wine before going to the theatre this evening. Lovely ambiance. Quite busy with people having an evening meal. Nice decor and nice toilets too! Worth a visit if you are in Canterbury. A nice place to go for a bit of peace and quite.

Thanks Carol! We have a our daily menu available but the Sunday Roasts and the Afternoon Teas are especially popular on a Sunday we've worked hard to make these the best they possibly can be, so it's great to see your comments. We've been told our Vegan Roasts are also outstanding so if you know any vegetarians/vegans, do bring them... More
