Came across this tea room whilst walking round Rydal, just what we needed. Had coffee, cake and sandwiches. All really nice . It's in a nice location with a log burning fire and toilets .

Freezing cold and wet day but no fire lit so tea room was really cold. Couldn't wait to finish and carry on walking. We informed the staff though before leaving. This dampened the visit and made our stop off slightly sour. Also soup seemed rather tasteless. But on a positive the area is gorgeous and thoroughly enjoyed walk round rydal... More

As grandparents we were on a walk from Ambleside with our son and his family. The tea rooms were a welcome stop for a refreshing drink and snack about half way on our circular walk. An delicious variety of cakes and hot drinks were on offer as well as soft drinks. In cold weather a fire is lit which makes... More

We went here last year and wrote, what will be, exactly the same TA Adviser Review. This place has a perfect location, wonderful coffee and cake, average & slightly watery soup but dreadfully slow service. One poor guy (doing his best) on service and a lady putting things together in the kitchen. They need another member of weekend staff on... More

We have been stopping here for years and have watched the place grow. Always a great cup of tea and good choice of cake. Sit by the stream and waterfalls for a good rest before soldiering on.

Walk the coffin route from Grasmere to Rydal, then return to Grasmere alongside both lakes, but make sire you stop halfway at the old school room tranship. Open every day of the year, offering tasty food and both hot and cold drinks, the ideal place to take a breather. Sit inside or out by the waterfall, and enjoy,

Delicious range of cakes available in this delightful coffee shop. Grounds of Rydal Hall are worth a visit, although parking is limited.

This tea room is in the grounds of Rydal Hall and is one of our favourites in the Lake District. Always friendly and welcoming, with a good variety of lunch options and nice cakes. The setting is lovely, especially sitting outside overlooking the little stream with waterfalls. Don't miss the gardens which are beautiful and have fantastic views. Makes an... More

A lovely place to find, particularly a refuge from the deluge of rain. Good home cooked food, beautiful cakes, the best Ive tasted in a while. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely return.

This little old world tea shoppe is situated within the Rydal hall gardens although we always use it as our halfway point on the walk from Ambleside to Grasmere, the coffin route. A pleasant pot of tea and a slice of cake or a toasted tea cake. a chat and we are off again walking. To us it's part of... More

Absolutely amazing cakes, strong hot tea and is at the end/start of many hikes including the Fairfield horseshoe. They make lovely looking sandwiches but we only had cakes. Best ginger cake I've had.
