Nearly missed this pub. Kids saw the playground when we were crossing the river. We didn't want to eat but they were happy to feed the kids and let us bottle feed the baby. Kids meal was huge and delicious (I know because I ate most if my daughters home cooked chips and freshly made cheeseburger washed down with a... More

Looking for somewhere to eat we nearly missed the Kingfisher and drove right past it, had to turn round and go back, glad we did. Nice old fashioned pub serving lovely home cooked food. We both had the roast beef which was cooked to perfection as were the vegetables, with lots of lovely gravy! Nice friendly staff and good service.... More

Popped in today for a quick bite and pint. Very tasty burger and nice pint of Robinson's Wizard. Only on our exit did we discover the excellent beer garden that overlooks the River Cocker. Too late for us maybe (saying that it was rather grim when we arrived) but worth checking out in good weather.

If you are looking for good value no frills home cooked food in a no frills environment then look no further. Popped in for lunchtime burgers and a beer. Two hand pulled guest ales available and the burgers were excellent, 5* in fact. Nice little beer garden overlooking the river and small car park available.

Great traditional pub with very friendly young proprietors. On what was a lovely evening there was no room in the garden to sit so we had a table inside. Our food was freshly made and was very tasty. Good service from the wait staff. Not fancy, that not being a criticism, a great local pub.

I eat here moderately often (not as much as I would like). it recently changed hands, and for a moment was concerned, because, (see previous review), i didn't want it to change. Also the dread words 'closed for refurbishment' cropped up .. Ahhh .. no, leave it alone! But no worry, I hardly noticed, It's every bit as good at... More

Description
The Kingfisher is situated on the main road leading to the centre of Cockermouth, a very busy market town. The pub is very traditional in style, with wooden floors, exposed beams and a cosy ambience. There is a separate dining room, which can be booked for private functions. The kingfisher offers traditional pub food which is locally renowned for both quality and value for money. We offer cask ales and wines to suit most tastes. The Kingfisher boasts arguably the best beer garden in Cockermouth, which leads down to the River Derwent and hosts a large Bouncy Castle which is available at all times free of charge. There's nowhere better to be on a warm sunny evening. BT Sport, free WiFi and a pool table are also on offer. Car parking available.
