We visited because of the great reviews on Tripadvisor and are glad we did. Bank Ground farm is a lovely location overlooking Coniston (our favourite lake). The room where we sat was lovely, old world but clean and with some nice modern touches. The food...More

Fantastic lunch. Probably best sandwich I'd ever had (homemade bread, walnut, apple and cheese). They made my wife a hot mixed veg lunch (not on menu) because she was gluten intolerant.

My favourite tea room/lunch place in Coniston. Living locally it's nice to have somewhere that doesn't just offer the standard menu. The lunch menu is varied and interesting, the cakes are amazing, everything is home made and delicious. If the sun is shining can sit...More

Most certainly the best food we had all week in the lakes. Quirky venue (in a good way). Excellent staff and stunning views. Will definitely go back.

Can't recommend this place more highly. Lovely views of conniston, the lake, the old man and fells. Lovely food and great service. Make the effort to travel round the head of the lake from conniston town and enjoy this lovely spot.

We had a marvellous lunch here, went for a big walk and returned for Afternoon Tea. Magical spot with fantastic views. Bonus to visit the 'house' from the original S&A film.

We were staying at Bank Ground Farm, and took the opportunity to enjoy afternoon tea in the garden. The refreshments consisted of tea and well brewed coffee, and a range of freshly baked scones and cakes on a self service basis. The garden area has...More

The Swallows and Amazons Tearoom & Farm Shop/Restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. We serve light as well as hearty keep warm meals, homemade cakes, luxury ice cream and hot & cold drinks. We also have a great selection of wine and local Lake District ale for you to enjoy with your meal. The view from the tearoom and beer garden across the lake are sensational, it is no surprise that Bank Ground Farm inspired Arthur Ransome to write Swallows and Amazons during one of his stays. Easily accessible to both cyclists and mountain bikers. Many of Grizedale's routes run close by, so come and boost your energy levels and have a light lunch and cake! Bank Ground is on the edge of the lake, opposite the village of Coniston, so you can even arrive by boat! With a footpath on our doorstep, we are also accessible to walkers too, a mere 25 minute walk from the centre of Coniston! The restaurant is open in the evenings, however it is essential to book in advance as we are not open every evening. Occasionally we host events so please check our website to make sure we are open and avoid disappointment.
