Thursday night in March - it was quiet in the pub but the fire was blazing and our food came quickly it was delicious sustaining pub grub ! Classics were ordered like scampi, gammon and eggs and lamb shank all arrived piping hot ! The land lord is a keen fisherman so often there is freshly caught fish on the... More

We were taken here by the Kankku lads and they couldn't have been more friendly & inviting. Food and facilities were amazing. Will definitely be visiting again as we come to the Lakes often. Thank you very much

Like the previous review, we were staying on the Caravan Club site in our motorhome, about half mile away. We had called for a pint and a sandwich the day before and returned next day for Sunday lunch, warm welcome no problems with us taking our old dog. Good home cooked food, Roast beef dinner for my wife and Liver,onion... More

Just walked to this pub from the local Caravan club site for dinner. It's a local pub, nothing special from the outside but a really friendly welcome and open fire inside. Dinner was in my book, superb. Good portion size, softly braised and tender beef with delicious sauce and perfectly cooked veg (not all soggy as in some pubs). My... More

Having tackled the "Wrynose pass" and walked the dogs my wife and I (+2 dogs) were looking for some lunch. We stumbled across the ship, managed to negotiate the car park, no mean feat in a big 4x4 pickup. My wife went in first to ensure the dogs would receive a warm welcome and we needn't have worried as there... More

This place is very friendly and the lady who gave us our food was very nice. But I have to be honest, its not the best food... Like, pretty much the basics. Super basic. The gravy tasted like Bisto but extra salty? The toilets are amazing, honestly the cleanest toilets I've ever used in a pub. I don't know how... More

This small pub is about half a mile out of Coniston and therefore much quieter than in the village. The staff were very welcoming, there was a varied menu, including good vegetarian options, good range of real ales, and traditional decor. When we were there there were Santa hats on all beer taps and quiet Elvis music playing in background.... More
