We visit Kendal just once per year. The 1657 is our first and favourite stop. Great choice of flavoured chocolate drinks; lovely cakes; and of course finished off with a trip downstairs to the chocolate shop! Just wish we lived closer.
Remarkable old building with a chocolate shop downstairs and then cafe/ice cream/cake place upstairs. Friendly staff, yummy broccoli cheese soup and bread, and amazing hot cocoa. Lots of flavours of hot chocolate and very traditional and cute inside. Would have liked a little more hot coco late and it to be hotter. Otherwise it is a nice afternoon stop.
