Plenty of staff walking around with little interest in asking you anything like "how can we help?" or "do you need service?". Eventually we placed our order for 2 teas with lemon drizzle cake and lemon cream-topped cake. Both cakes were dry and tasteless. Shops looks most inviting, clean with nice displays, but.................

Loved the cheese scone with chill jam and a wedge of cheese. Husband had carrot and cranberry soup which was also very good.

Came to Bryson's anticipating a delicious lunch - disappointed. Upstairs cafe was crowded and service slow. Vegetable soup was good and wholesome - see photo - but the 'signature sandwich' very disappointing - it is just not acceptable to have 'processed cheese' slices! And the plumbread just didn't work. The tuna sandwich wasn't much better - very average sliced bread.... More

Had a homemade pasty and tea / coffee outside. Purchased at counter so no waiting for service. Excellent quick lunch. Only room for one in Gents toilet - given size of upstairs tea room not sufficient as had to wait.

Visited recently with my husband for a quick bite to eat and drink whilst visiting the town centre. Ordered a cheese scone and milkshake and it was nothing to rave about considering how amazing all the cakes and pastries looked on the counter. I found it really strange how the scone had been buttered for me before it was brought... More

Thought we would pop in for afternoon tea and a wee scone for the little one. Very slow service, we had to ask at one point if we can get served. The main guy upstairs had a total attitude problem and finally took our order after the waitress had asked him several times. Food was average and way way overpriced.... More

Called in this morning before a meeting. Woman behind the counter didn't make eye contact. Then the tills wouldn't work and they couldn't even give me the correct change as the money was in the tills...so poor service and short-changed. Won't be back.

Our group of 4 all had different items from the extensive menu. All the food was so fresh. We had our meal upstairs in the restaurant which was a little more expensive but worth every penny. A great selection of pastries and cream cakes.
