The Aggie is a friendly spot nearby the train station and Penrith Castle ruins that serves food all day. The Steak and Ale Pie was a richly sauced deep ramekin full of tender beef and capped with a perfectly crisped pastry crust. Paired with a pint of Cumberland Old Thumper, it revived enough to take a stroll through the ruins... More

Decided to go on Mothers day with the family, service was ok but felt a little pressured for orders to be taken, starters arrived but the garlic mushrooms looked like they were swimming in water rather than a sauce which tasted as weak as it looked! other starters were ok. Mains were average and the chilli beef has a big... More

I am absolutely disgusted with the level of service myself and my family received on a recent trip to this establishment. We wanted a light lunch and were told that they did not do baguettes at lunch time. We accepted this and after a little deliberation I decided just to order a starter yet the rest of the family ordered... More

We went here for our works Christmas meal. Unfortunately we were all disappointed. Turkey didn't taste good, overdone Yorkshire puds, disappointing starters, vegetables and puddings. Wouldn't return based on this meal. Sorry!

Quick service and yet fresh really good meals would definitely recommend. Chips are really nice as we're the hot and spicy chicken wings my son had. Friendly staff as well.

An example of what you see is what you get. An old, traditional hotel, originally serving the cattle market, which is now moved. Simple UK pub menu. Very dated, but huge open fires are very welcoming when it is freezing outside. Friendly competent staff. Food comes in quantity, but seems to be from a catering supplier. Nice chips. Standard-portion fish.... More
