Excellent food, great service would recommend eating in. They certainly know how to cook a decent fish and chip dinner.

I hadn't realise what a squeeze it would be to get into the Angel. A quaint building down an even quaintler lane it was well worth the effort. I eat in the small dining room above above the preparation area. Extremely fresh, sweet cod with some heavenly chips and mushy peas. The staff of the Angel take a real pride... More

Was going to RE try this chippie even though the owner/manager is rude. As I approached the shop I was greeted by the staff ,in full cooking clothing. Sitting outside smoking,! Forget it! Awful place just avoid. Went elsewhere had a beautiful take away from someone clean.

Your clearly a crazed looney! If everyone looked at your other previous reviews of other businesses anyone in the right mind would see your going round leaving bad reviews for all other chip shops apart from little chippy. One would think you had ties to them. Are you the owner of little chippy? For the purposes of those reading We... More

We had a really nice take out 2 large fish and chips went down very well between four of us. Great value and a very nice meal. Would recommend certainly the best chip shop in Penrith.

I love my fish and chips and I always used to only eat fish if I could see the sea. But this place seemed really busy so I thought why not and I really wanted chips. I got chips with gravy chips were amazing and proper chip shop gravy The OH had a fish butty and it was not greasy... More

The best chippy and mushy peas in Penrith. You can eat in - upstairs in their little cafe, or outside also (only two tables outside).

This used to be a fantastic chippie. Today I decided to revisit what was once the best chippie in penrith. Unbelievable. The worst fish&chips I've had since coming to Cumbria! Don't know what the fish was but it was grey greasy slimy and under cooked. The batter was a messy joke. The chips where terrible. Some over cooked and inedible... More

Think this is a major over exaggeration!! I would understand if one thing was wrong as a natural product made fresh by human hands mistakes although rare will happen but not to the entire meal. More

Bit of a queue when I got there - 6pm on a Friday is probably rush hour for chippies, but it's always a good sign. Friendly service and excellent food - well cut chips, and a light batter on the tasty cod.

Travel regularly up and down the M6 and the Angel Chippie is an almost compulsory stop. Freshly cooked, generous portions, friendly service and good value. And it's only a couple of minutes off the motorway. So good we plan our journeys around it !

Good quality. reasonably priced-portion sizes are quite big so may be worth sharing if you don't have a huge appetite
