I had been her before and enjoyed the food. Couldn't believe how disappointed I was this time. My starter of liver on bread was good. However the lamb ragout was all pasta and definitely no lamb. The pasta portion was so small I had to...nibble at it to make it last the evening. Needless to say the party left hungry and had to go and get snacks elsewhere. Not good when the bill was quite high for a small and tastless meal. I will NOT be going there again.More

Enclosed within a side street in Leicester City centre this restaurant's unobtrusive green door and lack of sign signal a welcome oasis against the backdrop of fast food and chain restaurants. Walking through the entrance means walking into a home; it's easy and unaffected, the...staff know what they're doing. The food. The food is incredible. Home grown: authentic: Italy served up to you on a plate. Calamari so light and cripsy it will exasperate clouds; steak so tender you marvel, and desserts that are the perfect end to the visit to Case Romana The staff were also so friendly and welcoming, which just makes the whole experience that much betterMore

I have to agree with other recent diners that the portion sizing at Casa Romana has drastically decreased and I was disappointed by my meal this weekend. The Lamb tagliatelle was delicious but I couldn't actually see any lamb in my bowl? Where exactly is...the lamb? As I was expecting to see lamb pieces but couldn't find any. For £10/11 it was a rip off. This is also why I was totally confused when the waitress brought the dish over to the table, as I thought that's just a bowl of pasta, where is the lamb ragout as it was dry and not a stew? Perhaps they need to just buy smaller bowls so that the tiny portion of pasta placed in the middle doesn't look so pitiful? Sadly I wouldn't return in a hurry.More

Been going for a few years. But went again tonight after not been going for a while (a year) with my partner and we was very disappointed, the taste was still good but the portion sizes was shocking! I eat my pasta within about 5...spoonfuls and my partner mussels was gritty, fair enough they are fresh and you expect a couple of gritty ones but not lots when they cost £18! We are they sad to say we won't be going back as it's no longer value for money 😞More

Completely overrated and felt ripped off. My friend had the prawn starter ; £9.50 for 3 prawns. I questioned this to be told by the owner that it was in a spicy sauce ! I said “ over £3 per prawn “ ( and they...were small ) to be told they were fresh ……. No answer really. We asked for extra bread to bulk out the starters to be told on arrival that it would be an extra £2.50 ( and it was dry ) My veal in breadcrumbs ( £16.95) literally came with a slice of lemon …… thank goodness i ordered fries to make it intetesting. Wish we had gone to San Carlo , will never go again.More

This was my first experience at Casa Romana which came very highly recommend as one of the best Italians in Leicester. Our group was a party of 11, we were asked to pre-order our food beforehand 4 days prior to our visit. Unfortunately, this had...no relevance on getting the food out in a timely manner, starters took over an hour to arrive. Presentation for the starters was not on point, the scallops were just thrown on the plate which seemed to have a ladle of sauce dumped on. As for flavor nothing to shout out about very mediocre. By now the table had become cluttered with at least 3 rounds of drinks still on, we had to ask for them to be removed, I find this a little unacceptable. Mains were very poor the fillet steak was completely covered in sauce it just looked like a big meatball on the plate. One meal was in my opinion forgotten (Veal in breadcrumbs with Lemon and butter) the waitress after being asked one person was still waiting came back 5 minutes later to say it was burnt and not servable. She did say this would be free of charge, it finally arrived and by God the presentation was so poor I think anyone with no experience would have done a better job here. It was served on its own with a slice of Lemon, No butter sauce, no lettuce and no tomatoes, unlike the pictures online and the menu. The breadcrumbs were thicker that the Veal. Some of us ordered desserts in the hope it might redeem the other two courses but wasn’t the case. Tiramisu sold out… It was a Friday so not sure how that happened, had the mouse and ice cream very poor again clearly just taken out of the freezer and not allowed to defrost. Ice cream had no flavor almost seemed like from supermarket. Considering all the good feed back and recommendations from friends, I have to say this was my worst dining experience I have had from the food the to service just not up to scratch. Your disappointedlyMore

I have been to Casa many times however the last few times the customer service has been really off putting. The staff (bar one waitress) there are rude and unfriendly which puts me off visiting again which is a shame as the food is quite...nice. The tables are quite close together which isn’t great in the middle of a pandemic.More

When my boyfriend took me here down a side street of Leicester I was thinking what the hell. He’d heard good reviews though. It was amazing all courses were great, the service was very personal, the setting was really intimate, so great for either a...family event or a couples night out. I will definitely be returning here.More

My boyfriend and I have been going to Casa Romana for every date night/birthday celebration/anniversary we share together. We love it here. Friendly staff, really good prices, amazing food. I always recommend everyone to go. Definitely the best Italian in Leicester.

Hi Penelope B. There isn't a lift to the loft-style first floor only stairs and there are a few stone steps up to the front door on the ground floor from the street. Worth the climb tho IMHO! Ben
