Went for 1st time yesterday. The staff were here excellent, attentive and courteous. The food was first class. Interesting menu and all so fresh. The restaurant itself is smart and modern. We will be back. Thank you

Visited this place for evening meal whilst working away from home. Did not make a booking but after looking in through the windows it didn’t look busy. Went inside and asked for a table for 2 and you’d have thought we’d asked for the Crown...Jewels! There was no welcoming remarks or gestures, we were passed over to two different waiters who didn’t seem to know what to do with us, and to make the restaurant appear busy to the outside world we were eventually stuffed at a table near the windows. They must have seating for over a hundred guests but it seemed as if we were intruding. I made comment to the waiter who asked what we wanted to order, literally after we just sat down not having had chance to view the menu, and he must have taken this back to his boss. After asking my colleague if she wanted to go elsewhere and after a discussion we decided to stay. The guy who appeared to be in charge came to take our orders and apologised for the “confusion” so I gave him a piece of my mind about customer care and the fact we could have gone to a huge range of other restaurants nearby. After all this the wine was the best, and the food was ok if not a bit salty, but overall ok. Not the best in the world, but acceptable. More “confusion “ when it came to the bill after we asked them to split it! After asking this, the boss guy walked away mumbling to himself leaving us gobsmacked as to what his problem was, it wasn’t as if they were busy. How long does it take to total the cost of a bill, take this number and divide it by 2 !?!? After about 15 minutes of waiting we left the table and went to the bar to ask what the issue was…maths as it appeared, just simple maths. On receiving the bill W e noticed they had automatically inputted a 10% service charge so we said we didn’t want to pay this as we hadn’t received good or even mediocre service. The guy got really uppity as he had to recalculate this and reprint the receipt, such a difficult task clearly. Get real mate, if you had made more effort to make guests feel like they actually want to stay in your restaurant, this would not be an issue. If you had a better more positive attitude to your guests then it wouldn’t be an issue. If you understood customer care it wouldn’t be an issue. We would not return here even if the food was free. There is less atmosphere here than there is at a McDonalds or motorway service station.More

I've dined in shimla pinks on and off for many years. It is rather expensive but for the last 2 or 3 years certainly the food has been of excellent quality so if you can afford it it's worth paying the extra. Because of lockdown...I had to order a takeaway, the starters were the lamb chops which were really good they were very ten byder and well marinated i byn s bypices and also came with a salad. Mains were lamb Rogan Josh and lamb chettinad. The lamb Rogan Josh was so bland I added my own Spice ble nond to it, I've cooked Indian food for J ft50 years so I do know what I'm talking about, but really having a takeaway and then I haveno to make it better with my own spices it's a joke especially at such a high price. The chettinad dish did have more flavour that is true it has a unique taste but I have had better. So to sum up starters were great, lamb Rogan Josh Bland and lamb chettinad acceptable and all very expensive for a takeaway. The prices would be ok in the restaurant where you're getting good attention by waiters but not for a takeaway. Tesco, Marks and Spencer's, ASDA and especially Waitrose all do better Rogan Josh at about 2 or 3 pounds that's less than a quarter of the price of shimla Pinks. Disappointing.More

Was supposed to be a lovely fine dining experience, turned out to be overpriced, noisy & a very local pub type atmosphere.... Service was great. However, £73 for 2 people & we had to shout over the noise in the place just to talk to...each other..... Nope, not for us!More

Booked a table for a family of 5. Originally we were hesitant about eating out with the risk of coronavirus, however we took the risk with this restaurant and were so impressed with all the measures the restaurant had in place to minimise the risk...of the virus. We were greeted at the door with an automatic temperature check and sanitiser, and we were taken to our table, which was nicely spaced apart far from all the other tables. It's clear the restaurant isn't trying to cram in as many customers as they can (unlike other restaurants across the street who worryingly really don't seem to care). All the menus are one time use for hygiene and all the cutlery comes sterilised in a pouch with medical grade antibacterial wipes (I know this because I am a doctor in training and use these exact same wipes on patients!). Ordering is done by using your mobile phone and scanning a QR code on the menu (this is apparently so that you minimise contact with the waiters) which takes you to an online site where it brings up the menu and you are able to order everything. We struggled originally with the app but the manager was on hand to help and was really helpful in making sure we got our special request on our drinks order. Food wise, the portions were really good and 3 starters and 3 mains were plenty for a family of 5, the paapdi chaat was our favourite for the starters. We also ordered the paneer kebab which came with this AMAZING curry sauce (I think it was their special tikka sauce). For mains, our favourite was the Baingan Bharta and again their Paneer Tikka Masala because of the sauce. Their naans were massive too! Overall, would 1000% recommend this place, especially if you're worried about social distancing and hygiene measures. As a frontline worker for the NHS, I was seriously impressed with the standards they upheld and grateful for their efforts in doing their bit to help overcome this pandemic. They have a lot of good systems in place which I think the large chain restaurants can learn from. Will definitely be eating here again.More
