Enjoyed our smoked haddock au gratin in this quiet oasis near Charterhouse Sutton building. Charming and efficient Spanish bar staff.

Not many good old fashioned pubs/restaurants left in this area , but this has stayed true to the same traditions .

Most important of this pub is the ambiance, it is a beautiful place! The food is ok, but pricy as well as the wines. We met London friends here and spend a good night at the pub.

Visited on last Friday before Christmas with a group of colleagues for our traditional 'Xmas Eve' breakfast in this Smithfield pub. Our usual venue has closed down in 2016 and reopened as something else and having been here many years ago and being in close proximity it was an obvious choice but will not be returning. As a group of... More

Great Old School Pub near the meat market. Excellent beers and food is also excellent, mainly old English dishes.

My first visit - but not my last! This is a comfy pub with prompt service and excellently kept ale. I was only there for a drink with a friend, so I can't comment on the place as a whole, but it was very busy for a Sunday afternoon. That must say a lot for the attraction of the place.... More

We like going to historic sites and don't seek out the sleek and modern. We loved this pub the first time we went - at that time they served the pint in pewter tankards and it was great! Now, unfortunately, Health and Safety makes them use glass. Its still a nice old pub with good service, nice atmosphere, and decent... More

We went to Fox & Anchor for a late breakfast, by recommendation. The breakfast was really good and well cooked, generous portions and not very pricey compare to what you get. We were also here in the evening to grab a pint, the place was then fairly crowded, but we managed to find a place to sit, big + for... More

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
