My friend and I went there for lunch on Saturday afternoon, since there were a lot of high comments about their okonomi-yaki. We ordered Toyota yaki and London yaki, miso soup, agedashi-dofu (A deep-fried Tofu dish with Bonito fish flakes and grated Ginger), for dessert we ordered Arashiyama-An ( a Japanese garden of a dessert - Green Tea Ice-Cream, Adzuki... Abeno is an authentic okonomi-yaki dining experience. The restaurant is using only the best ingredients and lots of the meats and vegetables are organic. The interaction with the staff preparing the food at our table is fun and enjoyable. I liked being able to watch all of the steps of preparation. The taste of the food is really fresh. My... More

Different food, tasted good as well but too pricy.. liked their combination of green tea ice cream and a red bean paste kinda thing best.. got the smell of cooking in my coat and very difficult to get that out which I hated. They should probably provide some cloak room facility.

I can only say very positive things about this lovely restaurant. My hubby and I decided to try this restaurant after craving Japanese pancakes. Abeno was the first to come up on my searches online. To start, the service was excellent before we even stepped foot into the restaurant .. We rang for a booking for half past 8 which... More

The staff are so friendly, really had a laugh with them. Apart from one member, we were the only non-Japanese people in there at the time (always a good sign in a Japanese restaurant!). A nice relaxed atmosphere, such tasty food - very filling. They cook the food in front of you on a hot plate on the table, be... More

This was our first time trying Okonomi Yaki and it was a great experience. They cooked the food at your table and watching them preparing the pancakes just adds to the experience. We tried 2 different types to share and they were both excellent. Definitely worth a visit. It's not your typical Japanese restaurant and if you are in London... More

Always great to be introduced to a new treat. Okonmiyaki are a fantastic Japanese savoury pancake. This great little restaurant was a superb setting . The table hotplate allowed the server to cook the pancakes at the table. The range on offer all looked very good . The Sapporo version was fantastic. Excellent sake and whiskeys too. A very special... More

We ordered the main dish and it wasn't a disappointment. In fact it recommended and make sure then add the veg/fruit sauce because it AMAZING. The staff are friendly and entertaining. They cook over your table and balance interactive and cooking. Well recommended, no booking required. We order: Ebi Itame Onigiri Shake Okonomi-yaki: Shinshu Mix Om-Soba: Prawn Was enough for... Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum.
