Quite liked the location and the atmosphere. Service was very good, really friendly staff served us quickly, food was amazing. Ordered the cassoulet and a nice glass of red. Traditional, tasty. I enjoyed it.

Good place to have a dinner, delicious food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere! Coming back for sure!
Brought very special guests to this restaurant last Wednesday for lunch. Gosh, we regretted this choice! First of all, the service was appallingly slow. We did not receive one at all, if you wish. The waitress with the heaviest accent (at tomes we did not...understand what she was saying) hardly attended us, never looked at us and to get her attention every time turned into a massive challenge! The worst thing was the food! Never have I ever come out of any restaurant being hungry! I ordered a well done steak that came cold! Not just luke warm or anything but cold! Eating cold meat is like eating cold pasta – a completely unpleasant experience. I did not finish it. One of our guests also told me that his steak was cold. We also ordered bread and butter but guess what, they never arrived! Chips. Seriously? A small bowl of chips for the 4 of us? How can this be ever sufficient? I am not coming back to this place and neither I recommend anyone to do so! It was so embarrassing for us in front of our clients, I cannot express this in words. They really did let us down. Any obvious excuse such as short-staffed or whichever else cannot by any means justify the God awful food and a really poor service. They did not even apologise. Disgusting.More
Thought I’d booked their sister restaurant Club Gascon which is a real favourite to meet up with a friend for mid week dinner. Even phoned up Club Gascon to change the booking at short notice and the ever charming front of house staff took the...change request, worked out it wasn’t for them and passed it on. When I arrived at the wrong restaurant they redirected me- but I assumed Comptoir Gascon wouldn’t have known about the change so when I arrived started to explain the rather involved tale but the equally charming Comptoir reassured me they knew about the change and all was well. So a great start, matched by excellent bean soup, guinea fowl and a delicious apple filo tart with sorbet. The service was v good- unobtrusive although attentive. I am so glad I made the mistake as it adds a lower key restaurant to our list of great places to go - very reasonably priced and food that shows flavours are the kitchen’s focus.More
We were a group of 4 and thoroughly enjoyed our experience in Comptoir Gascon - from the welcoming cocktail included within the reasonably priced prix fixe menu to the lovely food and great service. Hard to fault at the price. Well worth a future revisit.
This is a lovely place in terms of decor and ambience, staff are lovely and prices reasonable for the area. They serve a gorgeous crisp cold glass of Crémant for £6. We had an enjoyable evening but I was slightly underwhelmed by the food. It...was OK, and I was expecting more than that. The cod croquettes came without a single shred of garnish and a tiny saucer of what tasted like bottled sauce. The duck burger was a bit bland and the top of the brioche bun was really greasy, making it messy to pick up. The duck fat chips saved the day - delicious!More
We had a family lunch (for 6) at Comptoir Gascon today, eating from the lunch special menu (£19.50 for 3 courses plus a cocktail). The food was outstanding - beautifully cooked and presented - and the cocktail was tasty and refreshing. There was cheese offered...as well as dessert but, unlike some restaurants, there was no supplement for this option. The food was authentic French brasserie style and, whilst the menu was limited, we all felt there was adequate choice for the price. Our wines too were well priced. The service from the two staff on duty was impeccable. Swift, courteous and friendly, but professional. Well worth the service charge, which is slightly above the norm of 12.5% but not excessive. The charge is clearly shown on all the menus so I fail to understand how other reviewers can complain about it. Ignore them and grab one of the best value (and quality) deals in London whilst it lasts!More
Over priced tourist trap. Uncomfortable chairs and tables . Sneaky service charging ! Will not go back .
I booked a table as their set menu on a specific day looked really nice. It did say in the small print that they charge 13.5% service which is rather unusual so I expected a great service. The food was excellent and the waitresses nice...and smiling although we did feel a bit neglected as the restaurant got busy. The issue we have is that they brought the bottle of wine and left it there on the table. They never poured the wine or water. Bearing in mind that they only take your order for the drinks as the food is a set menu and that you have to pour your wine, I think 13.5% service is totally unreasonable. What is also wrong/a bit sneaky is that on the bill it only said service charge without the percentage and most people would just pay it without thinking twice about it. Ours was over £11 but for what?? I asked for it to be removed which was done without any problem although we were asked whether they had been any issues with the service. We left some cash. The food was great but the service really did not meet the expectation of a 13.5% service charge.More
We went there to celebrate my friend's dinner and I was surprised about the quality of the service and the food. We had a bottle of an amazing merlot with handcut fries, cod, duck and salami. The pate' it's the best I've ever tried and...the service provided by Marianne was Very professional and attentive. I really recommend it!More
That's where you need to go in London. typically geared towards South-West of France cuisine, it's quite a nice and quiet restaurant. Good service, the magret was just a little bit lacking of something (definitly not pepper, that was a little bit too much!). You...need to add a side as well, otherwise, you may end up with just the meat and nothing else!More
Having tried club gascon dishes at taste of London and liking foie gras I decided to pop in on my way to hotel and had the burger with foie gras and had it with truffle cream! A very tasty burger! Would highly recommend!
Having enjoyed a great lunch at Comptoir Gascon back in December, we asked our London friends to have dinner with us there upon our recent visit to London. We were not disappointed as the reasonably priced food (the cassoulet was terrific, and a perfect sized...portion) and the service friendly and attentive. We are already looking forward to going back the next time we are in London.More
Venue is quite lovely - dimly lit, exposed brick walls, bistro style. Food was disappointing - especially the Duck Magret and the Moules Marinieres - both of which lacked any flavour. We did raise this with the lovely Italian lady who was one of our...servers. The male server was sullen throughout the evening and he got worse at the end. He was busy chatting with his colleagues/friends at the bar so we had to try and get his attention to bring the bill. When the bill came, we queried it and asked for the duck to be removed - seeing as that was really really poor, and had already been raised with his colleague. He then just lost it, saying that he was 'just a waiter' and we couldn't just start asking him to remove things from the bill. I explained that this had already been raised, was a poor dish and we would therefore not be paying for it. He then shouted at me telling me I was 'barred' from the restaurant and he was calling the police because I refused to pay. AGAIN I explained earlier situation, and said it was only the duck we weren't paying for and by all means call the police. Off he went to make a call, returned saying we could have the duck removed from the bill but I was still barred. I asked for his name - he refused to give it to me saying 'my name is none of your business, it is my name' (I later saw on the receipt that it was Robert). I asked to speak to the Italian lady, but she had left 10mins previously (as she had been there since 7am - why I needed to be told this I have no idea). I asked to speak to a manager and was told he was the only one there. End result was that part of the bill was paid, but he continued to tell us that we were barred. Ironic as there is no way any of us would return to that establishment. I am beyond appalled at this man's behaviour. He should not be in a customer facing job. This is the worst dining experience I have ever encountered. It was meant to be a pleasant birthday dinner but turned into the dinner from hell.More
Please accept our apologies for this unfortunate incident. Unfortunately, this particular waiter was not up to our standard of service and should not have ben left on his own to deal with your request. We should have ended his probationary period sooner but don't like...More
The food at this little restaurant was delicious - particularly my cod main. All the diners commented on their excellent food and yummy flavours - the only dish that was not popular was the Gascon Mess - thinking this would have meringue but it had...dry chewy cardboard. The service on arrival was good and in ordering our food, but then it deteriorated in that we had to order a second bottle of red wine twice and then they mistakenly charged us for three bottles of red rather than two - it was all sorted. I would go back as the food was heavenly.More
