Superb food upstairs which we had to ourselves for our work xmas party. Waiters v attentive and the food was honestly very very good, especially given there were 30 of us! Best fruit crumble I've ever had. I believe it's recently changed hands and i wouldn't hesitate to return. It was rammed downstairs when we finished the meal but luckily... More

The upstairs room was perfect for a friends' engagement party. The bar staff were really helpful and friendly and looked after us throughout the night. We all had a fantastic night and will definitely be back!

London is full of places to drink and eat but finding one of quality is now a rare thing so we were delighted when we stumbled across The Green - absolutely loved this place. Food was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were really friendly and there were a good range of drinks reasonably priced for London,... More

I've just got home from a fantastic afternoon here! It's a short walk from the station and I'd come to meet some friends on their recommendation. I ordered a pork roast which was absolutely delicious and the lady serving gave me a free extra portion of gravy! Lovely little pub with great hangover curing bloody Mary's and fantastic roasts. Perfect... More

Went there for a work lunch, staff were really welcoming, loved the food, great spot to enjoy the afternoon sun over a pint. Might just have to keep going back !

Great Burgers but a limited menu apart from that. It is a good size and doesn't get too full at the lunch rush. Friendly staff as well

Really disappointed in the lunch we had here Food was at least served on time – but the cheeseburger was distinctly average. Interior of the pub was icy cold, and got worse every time the door opened. Music got cranked up to an unprecedented volume for some reason (even though it was a lunchtime), and wasn’t turned down, even though... More

I use to go to The Green often and recommend them to everyone. Went last Thursday - awesome burgers and thin parsley fries! Use to say they were essentially the best! Walked in today(4 days later) to a new menu and what seemed to be new chef and management. Thin Parcely fries are now big dry potato 'wedges'. The meat... More

I don't normally review pubs but having seen some of the negative comments on here I thought I'd share my thoughts. It's a decent London pub, not touristy with plenty of atmosphere. The function room upstairs was excellent, they let you plug your ipod in and the bar snacks were actually superb. Proper scotch eggs, decent chips, you couldnt really... More

The Green is a traditional English pub, serving an excellent selection of real ales, lagers, wines and spirits. We serve tasty pub food all day, we have a daily menu of hot sandwiches, buns and salads then an evening menu of tasty small plates you can mix and match to suit your mood. Everything is made fresh to order. Our garlic and parsley fries are legendary! We have a lovely bar on the ground floor, which is nice and cosy in the winter, and filled with light during spring and summer. We also have a number of outside tables under awnings, sun soaked and gorgeous during the summer months. Pease bear in mind it can be busy on warm days, we do take reservations for large groups so please try and email your booking in advance, particularly on Thursday and Fridays. We hold fantastic parties for any occasion in our upstairs bar and function room, and can hire out the entire premises if required for weddings or large events, please email our team to discuss your requirements. We very much welcome your feedback. Please let us know directly if any aspect of service is not to your satisfaction and we will do our utmost to rectify the problem immediately.

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
