Porters is now our favorite restaurant in London where you can actually get true English food such as steak and kidney pud, toad in the hole, fish and chips (duh!), bangers and mash, and many more. And they serve London Pride as well as other...More

It was a shame that the restaurant was closing down the Monday after our visit. Even though the staff only had 2 day's left to work they were all very friendly. The food was brilliant.

Great pies as advertised. We had the Steak & Mushroom and Lamb & Apricot. Steak pie was puffed very high and much different that most pies I've had. Servers were energetic and and friendly. Too bad they've been priced out of the neighborhood.

As they claim, their pies are delicious. I had one with beef and mushrooms, pretty traditional. The beef was very tender and done just right. The mushrooms and sauce were just what you want on a cold winter evening. We really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this...More

We were shown a table even though we had not booked and the restaurant was nearly full. Lovely, unusual pies! We had a very good Game Pie and a succulent Chicken Pie. Free water in a caraffe was a good idea, too. Only one type...More

Yes, it's closing after 35 years, next week, along with the annexed Covent Garden Grill - because the landlord wants to make it into a boutique. It will be a sore loss to the area, even with the opening of the Ivy Market Grill just...More

Established by the seventh Earl of Bradford to serve 'good, simple, traditional English dishes', Porters remains a succulent stronghold of hearty British fare. Situated in busy Covent Garden, the relaxed and family-friendly restaurant offers a well-priced range of classics such as steak and kidney pudding, beer battered cod and chips and shepherd's pie. There are afternoon and evening fixed price menus, including one for post-theatre diners, and afternoon tea is available.
