This is a real old establishment with such a lovely atmosphere. Lots of people came and went in the time we spent there. The locals engaged us in conversation. they were very friendly and we were entertained by their dry sense of humour as only the Londoners can do. Definitely worth stopping for a beer after dinner.

Had a couple of beers at The Royal Exchange last night and the beer itself was good - I had Sharp's Doom Bar which I know well from having lived in Cornwall and whilst it now owned by a big brewer I think, it still retains the unique flavour and I like it.. The place itself is neither traditional or... More

Very conveniently near to Euston Station if you want a traditional pub with traditional good food rather than eating a Burger King on the way platform. As with London pubs the £4.80 a pint of bitter is always a shock I should be used to it now but London overheads are astronomical for them too long guess. The atmosphere is... More

If you want a home cooked meal this is you place. Funny pub it is. Very traditional. The misses cooks the food and that is what you can eat. But oh boy is good food.

Wonderful setting . Service was excellent . We were late by an hour due to our guest flight. The meal was amazing as always. Initially we all ordered the crab but it was finished. Although it was a disappointment the beef replaced was very tender with good presentation . The crumble was lovely but the macaroon my sister ordered was... More

This a small, old style local, reasonable prices for London and the sandwiches were delicious and good value. We were just visiting the area but were made to feel welcome

There are two parts to this establishment - the first is in the open Atrium area and is a very casual café. This is the only place I'd tried (or even knew about) until I booked a table for four for a breakfast meeting. Upstairs, away from the madding crowd are white table cloths and a serene atmosphere. It proved... More

Walked past here more times than I can remember and finally decided to come in and have a pint. What I like is that it's not full of tourists (no offence meant to tourists!) it's just nice to find a 'local' in central London that's 2 mins from my front door. Staff are polite, other punters seem nice and the... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
