Good food, great service, nice atmosphere and nicer prices. This place is a real treat - I recommend everyone to try the pork

I wouldn't be writing this review if it wasn't for one of the waitresses getting stroppy with me. We were a table of four: we ordered at the same time, but paid separately. One of the roasts arrived 20 minutes before the others, which I asked about, but the waitress wasn't particularly friendly in her response. Not the chef's fault... More

The place is in a great location. The food was not the best sunday roast ever but was good, specially the pork, the service was great and the place had a nice atmosphere.

Went for a Sunday roast to the Royal Oak with ten friends. We were asked to pre-order the week before, but when we arrived the veggie option (which five of us had ordered) had been changed from mushroom Wellington to roast butternut squash and beetroot; one thin strip of butternut squash and one beetroot, served with carrots, greens and roast... Hi I am so very sorry I came across as abrupt and you didn't get what you originally saw on the menu and pre ordered , Unfortunately the vegetarian dish was changed on the day. The new dish on the menu was shown to you with the price when you were seated with the opportunity for you to change your... More

The outside is not inviting but once you go through the threshold , you get a much cozier feel. Food is nice and if you go any day other than sunday (market day) you can easily find a table. In summer they also have a backyard that opens onto the road at the back, very lively. Staff can be rude

Visiting locally , I called in on Friday 29th to find a heaving happy bar, oozing charm and camaraderie! Although I was on my own and elderly I was treated with courtesy and humour! Having my favourite ale on tap - Cowcatcher- may have affected my judgement. The clientele seemed all very contented and cheerful - service was fast but... More

i used to drink in this place for years. it's such a shame to see a decline in a once great pub, that they no longer value their clientele. its a place where they will always get footfall, so losing a few customers is no skin off their nose We went for a birthday with a number of friends on... The behavior of this customer was so rude, abusive and unacceptable they were asked to leave and anybody who acts like that I would ask the same. More

Visited here with my boyfriend and friends for his birthday. The service is awful, after sitting upstairs for five minutes I asked for a menu only to be told "I'll be with you in a minute, we have quite a lot of people were already dealing with". I should have left then. For such a pretentious menu the food is... More

The woman who served me was the rudest person I've ever been served by. I asked her to hold my card to reach the ten pound minimum, itself a loathsome but acceptable evil, instead she added 50p to the bill and put it straight through. As you sometimes have to put your card through anyway to do this I thought... More

i'm really sorry for the way this was dealt with, things can go wrong all the time any where especially on such a busy shift at this time of year but if customers are feeling things are wrong from the start it's hard to make it better ...I'm really sorry we didn't do this for you and should have More
