so local gastro pub - been here many times - spend ing not insignificant sums of money. Last night was no exception, although staff worked hard to serve us, we had to ask for the wine we had ordered at least three times over a 20 minute period; meals ok but chips were out of a packet - really not... As a local I have a soft spot for this establishment but it can be bit hit and miss. Definitely there was a quite a lot of miss. My drinks order was misunderstood and one side order was missed, as well as a request for water ignored. The burgers, my companions ate, were nothing special and bordering on the bland... More

This is my local pub which I visit very frequently. The staff are friendly and there is a reasonable range of beers and ales. On the other hand, the prices are not cheap. There is a very spacious beer garden which is very handy when the weather's good. Worth a visit.

I had a Friday night meal with my husband and it will be our last meal at the Stagg, after being regulars. It's so sad to see a great gastro-pub plumet to a poor one; a few years ago it was real gem,run brilliantly with excellent food. It's so sad to see how it's declined. Our waitress was rude;she offered... More

The menu sounded amazing on paper, unfortunately the reality was far from it. Despite us arriving at midday on a Wednesday lunchtime (and we were the only customers in there at the time) they had run out of half the things that were on the menu. What we were able to choose from was either cold, tasteless, boring or overpriced,... More

Good selection of dishes, well presented, but portions slightly small for the accompanying vegetables.I would have prefered double the portion of mushy peas with my fish dish. The batter was crisp and perfect, no surplus oil, but too much batter hiding small portion of fish. Excellent service, helpful and smiling from an Iranian girl. Extras lead to a slightly overpriced... More

I recently visited the Bald Faced Stag for the first time, it's a great pub with a homely atmosphere. The beer garden was spacious and the selection of food and drinks, very good. The visit was made all the better due to the friendly and attentive staff, Louiey looked after our order and was excellent, he was welcoming and ensured... More

Really enjoyed the sunday roast there. Tender, tasty slices of meat, yummie veggies. Our local friend didn't like the Yorkshire pudding that much, but me and my sister (being Belgians) couldn't tell and enjoyed it anyway. It all went down well with a lovely bottle of red wine. Nice place, friendly staff.
