Stumbled upon this place after the post museum. What a find! Great drink, food up to a high standard, good prices and what I think one could call, genuine Londoners as locals. They had all grown up around there. No Mockneys seen here!

Tried the Sunday roast in my local for the first time today. The plate was loaded with TEN different veg, and cracking Yorkshire pud, and it was less than half the price of any other pub roast in the area (£6.95). If you like your...More

We stopped in here after visiting the Charles Dickens Museum. We had beer, but didn't eat. This is a local pub, not touristy at all. A local lady asked us if we were on holiday-- yes-- and she told us some of the history of...More

We had lunch here before visiting the Postal Museum. It is a lovely old style locals pub with friendly bar staff and clientele. The food menu is not extensive but there is a specials board and there are vegetarian options. The portion sizes are large.

This was our first visit to the Calthorpe Arms. We went for lunch before visiting the Postal Museum nearby. As others have said, this is a traditional pub, so the decor is a bit dated, but homely. The beer was really well kept and tasty...More

I've known this pub and been here occasionally for over 20 years because I worked nearby. It's also popular with locals. The drink selection is good and a modest menu advertises home-cooked food. A friend sometimes eats here on Sundays and recommends the food highly....More

Nice feel to it. Popular with locals. Really good old fashioned pu, and yes there was a dog there! Service was good, reasonably priced wine. Well worth a visit for a few pints.

Such a good pub. It's traditional (beautiful facade, dogs, a carpet!), without being an old man pub. Food is served in massive portions and really good value for money. Only wish they had a slightly larger local ale selection, but that's nitpicking. An unrivalled gem...More

Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site
of an ancient meat market which remains in operation
today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally
renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and
some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a
focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough
time wondering through the area's maze of streets and
you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky
