OK, it's a well known Fullers bar (get a hand pulled ESB) in the middle of London that is probably nothing really special to those who live there. It is in a wonderfully restored bank building complete with a leaded stained glass dome and immense ornate bar. It is one of the Fullers bars that specializes in pies. No, not... More

This is the real deal authentic English Pub. We were the only tourists in the place surrounded by English businessmen. It was awesome to not be in one of the tourist "pubs". The food was excellent. We both had traditional pies Food and service were great. Highly recommended

Great to have a drink in the building i got my first job in as a bank clerk! It is a building of great character. Didn't eat here but the beer was in excellent condition so really enjoyed my visit.

39 Members of the Dining Club (founded in 1907) enjoyed all the comforts of the Griffin Room with its private bar, sofas and properly laid out dining tables beneath chandeliers. The attention to detail on the place settings was impressive and the meal, comprising tea and hop smoked haddock in clam chowder, pork belly with apple and sage croquet and... More

This place is just opposite the Bank of England Museum. Former Banking Hall. Stylish pub complete with chandeliers and oodles of character. Had a set menu as part of a group of around 40. Our meals arrived promptly. Pie and mash. Excellent chicken, ham and leek pie and mashed potato and greens. Very good service too.

There's a good L shaped room upstairs with its own bar for a meeting of around 150 or so people (standing). There is a clear PA system and projection system with repeater screen for those in the "L".

Like many of the city pubs the building this pub is housed in is spectacular. Its worth visiting just to appreciate the structure around you. Lunches are pretty good and not too expensive. Beer is on the pricy side and to be honest, you get as good a pint of Pride in a number of local pubs for a better... More

We had lunch here and loved everything about this pub, also called Ale and Pie. I ordered cider and fish, and Chuck had the ale and pie. Good, quick, friendly service. Many of the lunch patrons were regulars and wore suits and ties (this location is in the financial district) but we didn't feel at all out of place dressed... More

This is a great pub with a lively atmosphere. Good beer selection. smaller private rooms are available for booking or just a slightly quieter background noise. Often head here for a beer or two

This is a typical after work English Pub with a wide range of great beers and very traditional menu. It is normally very crowded Monday to Friday early evening with people working in the area. Although I am not a great expert on beers, they have a few very nice ipas worth testing. I also had the steak pie with... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
