I am reliably told that not many restaurants in Chinatown nowadays really excel in dim sum. The standard is pretty good and consistent among the well known ones nestling along Gerrard Street and Lisle Street. However, what gets me is the "discretionary" (more like obligatory) 10% to 12.5% service charge added to the bills. The dim sum here is not... More

Golden Pagoda really is in a fantastic location slap bang in the middle of Chinatown, and I guess at least part of their approach to attracting customers is the draw of the Chinese-style exterior decorations. I stopped by with a friend when we couldn't decide where to go. We were welcomed and quickly taken upstairs to a table by efficient... More

I was expecting the usual cheap but average Chinatown meal...however what we had was delicious food, good quality, great portion sizes and value for money. We had the set menu for two. The place was full the whole time we were there even with a queue forming. This did not affect the service, they were fast but we did not... More

I visited this restaurant with my daughter for lunch and we had dim sum. The service was pleasant and quite swift. All the dishes were really fabulous. Dishes with prawns and scallops in were very generous with the prawns and scallops. The food element of the bill was only £20 for the two of us which is really remarkable value... More

The restaurant is In the heart of Chinatown and well worth a visit. We went for lunch today and hadn't booked but we got a table upstairs straight away. The menu has lots of set meals ranging from 2 people up to 8 with plenty of choices and variations. We went for all of our food from the main menu... More

Having been to this restaurant in the past, I decided to give this place another go. Although we were waiting outside for 15 minutes, we were escorted and shown to our table. I do wish a bit more care was put into our seating arrangements. Food-wise, they offered the usual range of food you encounter in the other Chinatown restaurants.... More

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
