After wondering around the city and Buckingham Palace we called into The Ruben at the Palace. This place is beautiful and very opulent but not to the degree of being snobby. The staff are extremely friendly and all had a genuine interest in their guests. We were not staying in the hotel but went for a cocktail in the back... More

Red Carnation hotels are well known for their high quality and attentive service and this afternoon tea at The Rubens did not disappoint. We sat at the window directly opposite the Royal Mews which was a great source of entertainment and made it even more fun. Settings were nice, food was good and waitstaff were friendly and helpful. We had... More

We stayed at the hotel for a few days and ate at this restaurant for dinner. The live piano and the appetizer were a good match afterwards we ate downstairs at the restaurant were I had a meat dish and it was great. The service was excellent and we had a lovely evening. I highly recommend this restaurant.

When In Rome...or in this case London, I believe one should try the local customs. Afternoon tea is an old staple that I had done as a kid, and we wanted to expose the kids to the custom. We wanted to ensure we had samples of everything that might be included in a traditional tea and we selected Rubens as... More

The tea was beautifully served and VERY generous! The sandwiches were fresh, baked goods were rich and decadent, and the scones were moist. A really lovely spot to relax and enjoy an English tradition.

the food itself was really very good, varied, tasty sandwiches, beautifully crafted cakes and lots of everything. The pianist created a very relaxing atmosphere but even more impressive was the service and, in particular, the very attentive Enci who made sure we were well looked after. She bought my friend a glass of bubbly on the house to say happy... More

Having stayed at this hotel previously, I was delighted when I was given a voucher for afternoon tea here. It was very good, with lovely staff and set in a really nice room with a pianist. Maybe not of the standard of the Ritz or the Savoy but then it's not nearly as expensive! Would highly recommend.

Booked in for high tea, we booked at £40.00 a head, beautiful surroundings and furnishings. We were asked would we like to upgrade our complimentary processco to champagne as it was Christmas. We said yes please, then ordered another. Sandwiches and warm scones were lovely. Staff amazing and THEN the bill arrived we were charged £17.00 for each glass of... More

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review of your Afternoon Tea online. Description
The Rubens at the Palace is located on London's Buckingham Palace Road and plays home to the Rubens restaurants. The Old Masters' Restaurant serves some of London's finest traditional cooking, including a sensational rib of Aberdeen Angus with Yorkshire pudding and a mouth-watering buffet laden with delicious dishes. This grand carvery and grill room oozes old-world charm and elegance. The Library Restaurant serves award-winning modern British food in an intimate, relaxed environment with comfortable armchairs and a traditional-style decor. Its 2 AA Rosette standard cuisine features signature dishes including Cornish scallops or a delectable combination of Irish and Scottish salmon carved at your table and followed by New Forest venison or Dedham Vale fillet of beef. The Palace Lounge follows through from the Cavalry Bar and is a magnificent bright open space with views of the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace, the Queen's stables. This is a great vantage point from which to spot the passing pageantry, a daily occurrence being so close to the palace! Guests love to enjoy an afternoon tea and watch the world go by, or at night a liqueur in one of the cosy armchairs. In the evenings, a pianist provides lively music and entertainment, helping guests relax and unwind in friendly surroundings.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
