Did not try the oysters but went for a split pea and has soup (terrific), a sirloin steak with their various sauces (loved it even though I am not a big meat eater) and some sides of fries (of course) and broccoli di rape (cooked perfectly). The wine list is well constructed and the prices reasonable. Great place to eat... More

Went there for dinner with friends. Food was good, but not spectacular and slightly overpriced. Nevertheless a good evening!

Had a lovely quick lunch at Hix today. Hanger steak was excellent and it came with a daring (for London) grilled marrow on the bone. Delicious.

Wow. Just wow. I ended up eating all the oysters as my friend was too squeamish. Possibly the most delicious food in London. Everything was so tasty - every single mouthful. It was pretty expensive but kind of worth it.

Third time we have been here. Sunday lunch this time. The food is incredible, we tried most of the starters and the oysters. Sublime food. The service is fantastic and the venue does not feel crowded even when full

This is a long established restaurant with a great range of fish and meat. I had the oysters as a starter and they were the freshest and most succulent I have had for a long time. Also the fish which was excellent. My partner had the lamb which was also perfectly cooked, pink and very soft - just perfect. The... More

Hix is rated as one of the best steak restaurants in London. The service is very good, the place is very casual and the menu is pretty varied if you like oyster, fish and steak. We had the crackling which was delicious, followed by some nice starters. Went for the sirloin on the bone and have to say, most definitely... More

Incredible loch ryan oysters with ponzu sauce. The T-bone was disappointing considering the high price.

Last minute dinner with no booking on a busy xmas week but the staff found us a space at the bar. Top notch from then on. The heaven and the earth starter (wild boar black pudding) was rich but worth every bite. For mains we both had the veal chop - at £35 it must be one of the most... More

Tasty food served pleasantly in a casual atmosphere. Nothing here to rave about or travel far to visit, but a good restaurant in the area.

Thank SCBD

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
