We had pre-booked a table for Fri 16th Oct as we were staying in the area. I was very very impressed with their set up for these Covid times - staff at the entrance were checking you were booked in or showing you the App for track & trace. Hand sanitising a must on entry & face coverings essential. Tables well spaced out too. Staff were friendly & welcoming & the service was excellent.
Our food was delicious - the burger my teenage son ordered was polished off in no time & my scampi was the nicest scampi Ive had in ages. We are in the area for a week and will most definitely be back.

We ended up at the Stanhope Arms by chance because of the bad weather on Sunday. We had very good portions, a tasty meal with competitive prices for what you receive. Speedy delivery of the food. The menu and drinks card are huge suitable for all tastes and they now have festive menus for those who want them. The staff are pleasant and helpful and made sure that we were enjoying our meal. A good find for a later date and I would recommend this old, well established pub for an experience. They are also accepting donations.

This is a standard boozer - not a trendy wine bar - although the drinks are still London prices! Very busy on a Friday night but mostly locals and an after work crowd. Standard pub food is served and there were plenty of people eating around us. We had already had lunch so we just had a couple of bowls of chips but they arrived promptly and were piping hot.

We wanted to watch football so found this pub that had the game on. We saw that pints were £6.25 and the menu was pricey with with big looking portions so we assumed it would be worth the cost especially how delicious the pictures in the menu looked.
We couldn’t have been more wrong. the size of everything is approximately half of what the menu shows! nothing tasted fresh, everything felt like it was cooked from frozen. tasted the bacon in the burger was barely visible, the peas with the pie were half portion, the pie itself was the worst pie i have ever had - only the inside was barely edible and the pastry was so tough i could not eat it! I had ordered mash but was sent fries and when I told the waiter he seemed to understand but didn’t do anything about it. The staff simply didn’t seem to care.
I wish I had taken pictures but at the time i was too embarrassed in case anyone saw me.
I strongly advise to stay away, this place does not have repeat customers and is only open because the area is very touristy and affluent. We sure as hell will not be going back. won’t give one star because they showed sport on tv.

This is obviously a friendly pub which is very popular place for a drink. We had travelled some distance and stopped for a 'freshly prepared on the premises' Sunday roast as advertised on our way to a hotel. It was grim. Meat was described as 'medium rare', it turned out to be thick slices of grey sirloin in heavily garlicked gravy. Yorkshire puddings were stone cold and uncuttable. Five luke-warm roast potatoes accompanied some stodgy cauliflower cheese, cold shredded cabbage and carrots. Roast dinner like this should not have been on the menu! Such a shame as the staff were actually very pleasant and made for a good atmosphere. We were too tired to make a proper complaint and just wanted to get to our destination but I wish we'd chosen the burger and chips instead.

We visited on the 7th September and had a really enjoyable visit. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and the pub has a lovely friendly atmosphere. We had a burger and a toasted sandwich both of which were served hot and we found them to be filling and very tasty. I would definitely recommend a visit to this pub where you will be made to feel very welcome by excellent staff.

This was recommended by staff at the nearby Bailey's Hotel as a good spot for lunch and they were right! It was packed, but our food order arrived in good time. They were really happy to help with a gluten allergy by talking us through the iPad and app which detailed the options. Ordering was a bit of a faff as I first had to download the app to my own phone, but the menu was clear, including the GF options (which isn't always the case!)
We throughly enjoyed the GF chicken & bacon sandwich, along with nachos and the hunter's chicken sandwich. I tried a new beer, which wasn't the best, but that's not their fault.
Overall this was a lovely spot for a bite of lunch and we'd happily return next time.

The Stanhope Arms was just a couple of short blocks from our London Kensington hotel, across Gloucester Road from the Tube station. It was the first dining option we saw that wasn't a fast food establishment, so my wife & I agreed to try it on our first night in town (a Saturday).
We grabbed the last low table available, ordered at the bar (very friendly bartender handling orders), and waited for our meals while not knowing what to expect in the way of quality. My wife was happily surprised with the serving size & flavors of the steak & ale pie and buttered mash and garden peas. I was equally pleased with my Lighter Bites menu choice, a chicken breast & beechwood smoked streaky bacon served on sourdough with tasty coleslaw & a fresh salad garnish. It was a good start for our 4 night stay in Kensington, impressing us enough to return a couple of nights later. We would recommend Stanhope Arms for a pint & a meal if you are in the vicinity.

Ordered 2 Beef Sirloin and half chicken Sunday roast but was told only one available, so I took the Hunters chicken so my dad would get the roast.
When food arrived it was only a beef roast we got. Spoke to the gentleman behind the bar and said, this isn’t what I ordered. His reply was “these things happen”.
** No apology or anything. **
Throughout the meal the bar staff stared at me and made it very uncomfortable whilst eating my meal.
I asked the bar staff why was he staring at me while I was eating my meal and I was rudely told to eat my dinner.
Absolutely disgusting behaviour by any bar staff. I think management need a good look at their staff or more training should be provided.
The receipt says the name Egest on it.

Food was dreadful. The burgers were cold, the lasagna looked and tasted like a frozen packet meal and the wings were cold with sauce squirted on it.
The bar staff weren’t friendly at all and could learn how to smile and be nice to customers.
In all honesty the on,y good thing about this pub was the location, the cold bee and the lovely man who gave up his table for my family.
Would not go back.

My daughter and I were staying across the road and noticed a sign out the front of the Stanhope Arms advertising a Sunday roast. I had looked on their website and viewed their no Gluten containing menu, as I am Coeliac it is important I find somewhere I can have a Gluten Free meal. Their website also stated they had a Sunday roast on the Sunday we were attending. We booked a table for the next day, we arrived and ordered a drink to then be told that there are no Sunday roasts available today nor any Gluten Free meals. Apparently by the end of the week they run low/out of Gluten Free options. One of the waiters offered complimentary drinks, I asked for a baby Guinness which is also on their menu but the waiter then said they do not sell them. Overall an extremely disappointing experience, we then had to find somewhere else to eat at a time most pubs were full. We will not be returning and certainly wouldn’t recommend it for anyone looking for Gluten Free options or a Sunday roast. I would suggest the Stanhope Arms revise their menu’s to display what they actually offer and not advertise something they cannot provide.

It's a great location with good beers but the Sunday Roast was appalling. The 'sirloin of beef' looked more like 2 rashers of bacon, a dead, flattened yorkie and over cooked veg. Gravy was nice though!
When plate was collected, told the guy but no interest, like he knew it was horrid too.

We had an appetite for steak pies. We were close by and had a few choices. This pub had the better of the bad reviews on their pies, and seemed to have some fairly positive reviews.
Big mistake!
No mustard (“all we have is in the basket on the table “). I popped out to the nearby supermarket and bought my own.
Hardly any meat (certainly nothing larger than a sliver) and then when I encountered the gristle, I stopped eating.
My wife summed it up, “is there any MEAT in this”.
Stay well away if you are thinking of pies.

Fantastic place to go after work.
We are always looking for great pubs for food and drinks after work and this one doesn’t disappoint
Great range of drinks on offer and a wide choice of food on the menu which is freshly cooked. The staff were very busy but always found time to look after us and were very polite and courteous throughout the evening
This will be our go to pub when next in the area

This cozy pub was across the street from our hotel and was always crowded so we knew it must be good. We were able to squeeze into a corner table one evening for beers and dessert and we had a great time. It is a lively and comfortable atmosphere. We drank some good beer and tried the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. After eating the pudding here, we loved it so much that we ordered it everywhere we went for the next 2-1/2 weeks of our vacation through England and Scotland. We all agreed that the pudding here was the best one.

With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
