Two of my brothers and their wives joined us to celebrate what would have been our Dad's 100th birthday (6 December). We had a private room at Gauthiers, a lovely French restaurant in Soho. You have to ring the doorbell to enter which was a nice touch. The food was excellent- we had pre-ordered from the Christmas menu, but none... More

Suggested to 2 foodie friends that we went here for our annual Christmas get-together. They were impressed. Excellent service, tables spaced sufficiently far apart that you don't have to listen to other peoples conversation and can easily hear the conversation at your own table. Great value for a 3 course lunch with wine and coffee, they kept topping up the... More

We were given a gift voucher last Christmas for Gauthier's deluxe three course lunch with champagne and wine last Christmas and finally got the chance to redeem it on a very busy Saturday in early December. It was certainly a huge relief to escape the crowds and be shown to our table in one of the many small dining rooms.... More

I chose Guathier to celebrate my birthday as I have heard great things and also because it offers a vegan tasting menu so my wife could also enjoy wonderful French cuisine. I was expecting a nice meal but we were both blown away with all of the 8 course tasting extravaganza, every course presented beautifully and tasted wonderful The staff... More

We had looked forward to trying this restaurant for a while. I'm not a vegan but my girlfriend recently decided to be one (let's see how long that will last!) but we came and had the Vegan tasting menu at around £95 per head with a cocktail. It was a Friday night around 9pm and we were sat upstairs where... More

This is a French restaurant - rather delightfully you ring a bell to enter. The set lunch is wonderful - exquisite flavours and very reasonable. One of the best risottos I have ever had as a starter. The desert , the Golden Louis XV (70% Dark Chocolate Mouse & Crunchy Praline) was incredibly rich and just the right amount. The... More

We went for a cosy night out and loved the experience. Were given a table (the only one) in the wine room, a cosy room next to the hallway. Service is a mix of French 'Monsieur' and Anglo-Italo-? waiters who bring an original touch of 'Frenchness' in the British capital. Service is generous, qualitative and friendly. Waiters give excellent information... More

Gauthier is a truly outstanding restaurant. The service and food are of such a high standard and having visited other, Michelin starred French restaurants including Le Manoir, for us this is very much at that level. Couldn't recommend anymore highly if your looking for a special dining experience.

I booked a table at Gauthier having read previous reviews. I am so glad I did. We had a delicious celebratory lunch. My venison was particularly good. The details left such an impression - amuse-Bouche, a card and even a surprise for my mother. The choices of wine.... Pierre, don't change a thing! We're coming back!

Located in a refurbished old house in bustling Soho this modern french restaurant serves classical cuisine with service to match. A three course lunch for £40 that included a glass of champagne and two glasses of wine (red, white or both) was excellent. Great menu from rabbit to plaice, beautifully presented. Fireplaces lit, this is a place to linger. We... More

Having earned a star within a year of opening Gauthier Soho, Alexis Gauthier is described by Zagat guide as "...one of the Best New French food destinations in London...". With an emphasis on vegetables in all dishes, Alexis provides a seasonal tasting menu with the best possible ingredients (British where possible) for omnivores and a vegetable option, as well as an A la Carte and lunch/pre-theatre option. All served in a chic Soho Townhouse where the staff really make you feel special. There are also five private dining rooms for parties of all sizes.

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
