What a gem. An age-old London institution right by Somerset House on the Strand. Perfect after-skate curry. Best way to do it whole table does £15 each set menu and take your own booze if you want to save! Very busy leading up to Xmas....More

I made the mistake of only checking one review ! I liked the sound of a basic , second floor Indian restaurant evoking times gone by. I didn’t realise my stale and rather small and miserable poppadum would also evoke memories of times gone by....More

Like going back in time and not in a good way. Grumpy staff Average food Can’t get a drink at the table - you have to go down to the bar below and bring it up yourself Very disappointed that the naan bread was pre-packaged

I had met up with friends for a pre-Christmas jolly. After sinking numerous pints in a nearby pub there’s only one thing left to do. Go for a curry!! Whilst the place is basic in its appearance with Formica topped tables and random chairs, it...More

Must have walked past this place a hundred times but had no idea it was here. The dining rooms are, shallI say, unpretentious - certainly not what you would expect on the Strand! The food, when it eventually came, was nice enough and there were...More

This could have been a hidden gem of a place but it didn't deliver on taste, quality of cooking for the price which was pretty standard and not cheap for what you get. The Indian YMCA near Warren Street does far better food for a...More

The original curry club in london with lots of history. It is stuck in a time warp but not in a good way decor wise, it could be so much more -with better displays, art work and just cleaner. It is great finding a BYO...More

Was going to matinee performance of 42nd St in Drury Lane so decided to pop in for a quick lunch pre-performance. Another reason for visiting was that it had recently been threatened with closure and would mean the loss of one of the oldest Indian...More

Not sure there’s anywhere like it west of the Hoogly. Stuck in a time warp and the food whilst reasonable is nothing special but memories of India flood back. Would be very sad if it closed #jaihind

With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized
lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is
not just considered the heart of this bustling London

esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as
well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most

Description
The charmingly eccentric India Club Restaurant has remained much the same since its opening in 1946. Hidden up a flight of stairs, India Club is one of London’s best kept secrets. Enter a timewarp, with portraits of the Independence era on the walls, bottle-green leather chairs, red lino flooring and wooden laminate tabletops. It is a British curry house of the first generation. Authentic ‘home cooked’ South Indian cuisine at extraordinary value makes India Club an unforgettable dining experience.
